Flags and Teapots in the Patriotic Holiday Cupboard

Hi Friends, wow, it's so hard to believe that the July 4th holiday is just around the corner! Are you getting into the Summer groove? A few weeks ago I brought out my traditionally summer French Faience and exchanged the Green Transferware in the Holiday Cupboard here in the Garden Room.

The Holiday Cupboard is for the Birds

Hello there, Friends! I hope you're having a wonderful week and that you're enjoying warm pleasant late spring weather. We all seem to have some outdoor projects we're trying to get to, but golly, it's been chilly and rainy around here... again. I'm not sure why this surprises me because it's often cool and rainy in early to mid May, but I'm sorta over it.  You can remind me of this when I'm complaining in September that it's too hot and dry. I've been wanting to get my outside containers put together and it's been too cool to get out and do much. I did finally get to the nursery over Mother's Day weekend to pick out some flowers so maybe I can get those finished up by this weekend.

Cupboards and Cabinets in Decor

Hello Friends,
I'm so glad you're here, because today I'm joining a great group of bloggers as we share our love for all things vintage with the Lifestyle of Love Blog Hop, hosted by our wonderful friend Cindy from County Road 407. We were given the topic of "How we use Cabinets and Hutches in our decor". Well, let me tell you I was jumping for joy when I saw that I would get to share one of my favorite pieces of furniture.

Yes, you guessed it.
The Holiday Cupboard!

Hi Friends, so glad you're here for the Celebrating Easter Mini Hop! Today I'm joining in with five other blogging friends to share a bit of our fun Easter Decor. My sweet friend Amber from Follow the Yellow Brick Home is hosting our small group today that's big on Easter Joy! If you're coming from Amber's then WELCOME, and I'm happy you're following along with our Hop.

It's Almost Easter in the Holiday Cupboard

It seems like just yesterday that I put away all the St. Patrick's Day goodies... oh yeh, that was only last week wasn't it? Ok, so it's a quick turnaround for Easter this year. I really like it when Easter is more toward the end of April instead of the beginning.  That gives us more time not only to decorate, but to enjoy the decor, color, and be able to putz around. My sheep and rabbits stick around for the rest of Spring, but Easter is the prime time for anything bunny related.

Using Vintage Dishes in Seasonal Decorating Hop

Hello friends, I'm so happy you've come by today and I hope you'll be checking out the fun that we're having at this bi-monthly Hop, Lifestyle of Love. Cindy from County Road 407 is our hostess with these wonderful vintage themed Hops. If you hopped over from Amber's blog, Follow the Yellow Brick Home, I know you loved her wonderful collection of vintage ironstone, pottery and dishes.

This month our Hop theme is "dishes" if you haven't guessed already, and I can guarantee that you'll find tons of inspiration on using dishes in seasonal decor. Whether you're a die-hard tablescaper and dish collector, or someone like me who just loves using them in vignettes and vintage decor, I know you'll love all the ideas from our group.

Springtime Holiday Cupboard with a Wee Bit O' Irish

St. Patrick's Day isn't a holiday that I go all out decorating for, but having said that I DO like to give a nod to my Irish, Scottish, and British ancestors. Since I've had the Holiday Cupboard back at this house, I've found that I can go a bit crazy with the holidays and seasons. Of course "dishes" and a few odds and ends are always the base for my decorating obsessions.

Valentine's Day in the Holiday Cupboard

Hi Friends, I cannot believe it's actually February
and in a little over a week it will be Valentine's Day...
So I wanted to do my monthly/seasonal "restyle" of the Holiday Cupboard.
I have so many little odds and ends that it's always fun
to give them all someplace to go hang out.

Cows in the January Cupboard

How do you feel about January?
Are you excited about a clean slate and look forward
to putting together some fun fresh decor
or does it take a while to get out of the post Holiday season blahs?
I guess I'm somewhere in the middle.
I love the  excitement and cozy Christmas decor with lots of color and twinkle lights,
but I'm usually ready to put it all away and look forward to
a more pared down and neutral look.

Christmas Plaid in the Garden Room

Hey Everyone, I'm sharing part of the Garden Room today,
and will probably need another post to cover it all.
What can I say... it's a big room and I have lots of junk  vintage goodies.

A Scottish Christmas in the Holiday Cupboard

Hi Friends, it's always fun when it's time to share the Holiday Cupboard! Whatever the season, I look forward to creating a new display filled with vintage goodness and a bit of a theme going on. This Christmas it has a dotting of little ceramic white houses along with some of my vintage Tartan Scottish Biscuit and candy tins.

It's Thanksgiving in the Holiday Cupboard

Hello Everyone, One week till Thanksgiving!
Do you have it all planned out?
I guess it will just be the two of us for the holiday.
That's what is best for us this year,
but I'm sure missing my family and kiddos.

October Whimsy in the Holiday Cupboard

I knew I wanted to do something fun and whimsical for October here in the Holiday Cupboard. I wasn't sure what, but I started removing things from the shelves and started looking through my "Fall stash" of goodies. Guys, I've got more "little goodies" than you can shake a big stick at. I used my squirrels and chipmunks last year in here, so I wanted  to do something different. I gathered a few little pieces that were full of nostalgia and whimsy. I chose a bad day to try to take pics because it's cold and rainy today so the light in the Garden Room was not the best. But I lit a few votive candles, then tried a bunch of micro lights; not much help. I hope it brings a little smile to your face, as it did mine.

September in the Holiday Cupboard

Hi Friends, we're really sliding toward Fall since it's the middle of September now. The days are cooling off here and it's getting dark much earlier... time to restyle the Holiday Cupboard for Early Fall. Just give me any excuse to restyle the HC and I'll jump on it.

Scenes from the Late Summer Baker's Rack

I always get itchy when mid-August rolls around; itchy to start thinking about decorating for Fall. Now, I realize we have at least another month of summertime weather, but toward the end of August the signs of nature start to swing toward Autumn.

Long Lost Crockery in the Holiday Cupboard

A few weeks ago my hubby called from our storage unit asking me if I might want him to bring home a few boxes that he'd stumbled over... literally. The problem with moving twice in 5 years is that it's easy to lose track of what's been taken to storage and when. He texted me a pic of a box labeled "crockery" that I hadn't seen in 7 years. WHAT???

Patriotic Holiday Cupboard

Hello friends, I'm ready for a little patriotic flare around here.
I've really missed getting to go to the fleas and antique malls,
where you're sure to get a big helping of the RED/ WHITE /BLUE!
So I'm going to dish up a little of my own.

French Faience in the Holiday Cupboard

A few weeks ago I decided to try something a little different here in the Holiday Cupboard, by bringing out my French Pottery aka my "wedding china". When I was choosing my china pattern for my Bridal Registry back in the 70's, I fell in love with this beautiful handpainted romantic look.

Rainy Day Busy-ness

Hello, my friends...

This is a bit of a random post, but I wanted to share a few pics of what I've been up to around here. I felt the motivation to change out my Holiday Cupboard china from green transferware to my French Faience. And here in the Dining Room, I haven't shown you my sweet little ceramic rabbit tureen that I made many years ago, and has been here for Easter.

Garden Room Easter

Well, I've started this post several times and now I'm just down to the concept of sharing some pics from the Garden Room this Easter season. I'm at the place where I need to think and speak positive thoughts. Having the Garden Room to play in is good therapy for me, and it's easy to tweak things for a new look and "outlook".
