October Whimsy in the Holiday Cupboard

I knew I wanted to do something fun and whimsical for October here in the Holiday Cupboard. I wasn't sure what, but I started removing things from the shelves and started looking through my "Fall stash" of goodies. Guys, I've got more "little goodies" than you can shake a big stick at. I used my squirrels and chipmunks last year in here, so I wanted  to do something different. I gathered a few little pieces that were full of nostalgia and whimsy. I chose a bad day to try to take pics because it's cold and rainy today so the light in the Garden Room was not the best. But I lit a few votive candles, then tried a bunch of micro lights; not much help. I hope it brings a little smile to your face, as it did mine.

I'm going with the traditional orange and black color combo.

You all know I love black kitties,
so I've collected a few of them along the way.
I have more, but I didn't want this look to be all about the black cats.

Sorry some of these are a bit blurry,
that's what happens in low light.

I'm still using the Brown transferware until after Thanksgiving.
Can you believe that it's just around the corner.
Are you as frustrated as I am about family holidays coming up?

Two Caliente Orange cup and saucers from the 30's
and a carnival glass candy dish
and USA Pottery bits and pieces.

Vintage Reed's Butterscotch Wafer Tin

I'd forgotten about these wonderful orange antique tobacco tins.
Golly, I want to go to junkin'!

It's cold and dreary today, but I enjoy these days of Fall so much,
I'm happy with anything. I went out on the front porch and picked
a few dead blooms off the mums, then had to run back inside after just a minute.
We have leaves, leaves and more leaves to blow out of the landscape beds.
We have a great guy that comes to mow/mulch them up,
but it's still work for us to do.

What are you all up to this weekend?
Hope it's fun!

I hope you'll drop by Monday evening and join in on the party.

  3. Not up to much here, it snowed and it is cold. The virus is moving through our area, so I am sticking close to home. Going junking sounds wonderful. Your cupboard looks great!

  4. Oh what fun! That looks so good. Isn't it great to finds treasures you had and forgot about?? The flipside is the frustration of not being able to locate a particular somethin' somethin' you know you have and cannot find! That's happened to me this year with a certain Halloween plate! And yes, the thought of just the two of us for the holidays is downright depressing. I'm used to 20-30 in the family gatherings. :'(
