Quick Spring to Summer Urn Vignette

Hi Friends, do you ever feel like you're busy but not accomplishing much? That's how it's been around here lately; always something to do but not feeling like I'm getting anything worthwhile done. The weather has been storm after rolling storm and in between hot humid weather that leaves me worn out. I planted some pretty flower containers a few weeks ago but it's been a constant battle between the digging squirrels and the deer and an occasional goose deciding to try something new.

Fill a Vintage Tote for Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day Weekend, everyone. Over the years, I've realized this is a holiday, (like many holidays) that can be so bittersweet. I still have my mom, but I know so many of you have moms in heaven. And for those that have lost children or never had children, it's a sad reminder. So to all of you, my prayers are with you today in joy and sorrow.

The Entry is for the Birds

May is Bird Month around here, literally! We have a full nest box on the front porch and wherever I go I can here chirping and cheeping. It's been hard to water the fern and containers on the porch because you may get bird bombed by mom and dad.

Dining Room Table and the French Wagon

Hi friends, this has been a long week or so trying to get outside cleanup accomplished around the house and yard. I have to take it easy and not overdo it physically because I then pay for it the next few days. We have a big yard, and even though we hire out the big projects, porch cleanup and container planting are a job for me. big job.

Spring Mantel and the Hearth Room

Hey there friends, I just realized I hadn't shared the mantel or the hearth room since January and I thought maybe a spring-y update was due.

Spring Coffee Table with Metal Baskets

Hi friends, last post I shared a fun garden-y spring vignette in a vintage birdcage. I love using moss, plants, twigs and blooming branches especially in springtime. I styled it in front of the Holiday Cupboard on the chippy stepstool and now I'm sharing my springtime coffee table with more old rusty garden charm.

Vintage Birdcage Spring Vignette

This time of year, I'm drawn to creating vignettes with plants and all things vintage garden mixed in. Throw in some bird nests, moss, sticks and grapevine; all the better. Then arrange it in/on a vintage vessel.

Using birdcages for vignettes is similar to using a glass cloche, as both cover the grouping. A cloche offers a more clean, pristine look, whereas older birdcages usually give a bit of wear and age and yes the vibe of garden grunge.

Spring and Seasonal Paper Greeting Tags

Once in a while I come across something that really inspires and intrigues me. For my birthday earlier last month my sister gave me a precious gift greeting tag instead of a card. I was totally captivated by it's vintage images and similarities to the vintage inspired art collages that were so popular during the last decade.

Spring Has Sprung

Hey friends, this last week of March I'm still sharing Easter décor, but also considering that the decorating theme will shift to "spring" next week. When Easter is this early on the calendar I like to keep out some bunnies and lambs around to continue to celebrate the transition from winter to warmer weather.

Garden Room Vignettes and Forsythia

Hope you had a great St. Patrick's Day, friends. Starting this week we're now on the slide down to Easter. I've been posting Easter décor for the last few weeks since Easter is in March this year and I'm a little behind on sharing what normally would be until well into April. St. Paddy's Day was cut short this year, unfortunately because I really enjoy it.

SomeBunny Loves You in the Holiday Cupboard

Back in February my husband decided he was going to combine 2 storage units into 1 larger one, so of course he found a few boxes he thought I might want to go through. Clothes, shoes, pantry items, (eeeck) but two were marked "Easter", so of course I told him to bring them home for me to look through.

Hop Into Easter in the Cookbook Cupboard

Last week I shared a new pair of moss bunnies on the sideboard. So today the sideboard's furniture buddy, the cookbook cupboard, is getting a little Easter/Spring decorating. I really never have much of a plan, but gather odds and ends together for a little seasonal display on top. The "Cookbook Cupboard" got it's name from the messy bottom shelf and cookie jars that I've had for awhile.

Moss Bunnies on the Spring Sideboard

Hi friends, Happy March; I hope you've been having a great week. It's been a little hectic this last few weeks for me. My husband decided to combine two storage units, so I've been trying to sort thru some boxes. (enough said) Good news is that I've found a few things I thought were lost, so yay for that.

Out and About at the Vintage Market

Hi Friends, today I'm taking you with me to my fave vintage market
in the area for a late spring /early summer visit.

You all know I definitely have a soft spot for wheelbarrows, carts, and wagons, etc. Anything with wheels and preferable could fit on top of a table or cabinet for display... So here's a wonderful vintage piece from my friends Sara and Abby at Sweet Magnolia's Farm here at The Vintage Peddler in Springfield. It's my go-to vintage market for a quick get-away that gives me a much needed boost of inspiration and fun seasonal ideas.

Birds in the Late Spring Holiday Cupboard

May has always been Bird Month for me. Around here we have nest building, new babies, and new faces at the feeders. I've collected a bit of bird themed vintage items during my time as a vintage market dealer, picking up figurines, tins, illustrations and ephemera during the years. It's a perfect themed match for my other favorite vintage theme which is old garden goods.

Flowers in Bloom at All About Home #195

Hi Friends, Welcome to the All About Home Link Party! We are so happy you come by to visit and share all the fun you've been up to lately. I hope everyone is having lovely spring weather with some time for flower planting and potting. I got my containers planted a bit earlier this season, because of a big sale at our neighborhood store. Unfortunately the deer found them and made a meal of them. After a move closer to the backporch, thankfully they are rebounding a bit, so I think they have a chance to recover.

Cottage Review: Garden Wheelbarrow Tablescape

Hi Friends, with Mother's Day coming up next weekend, I know many of you will be hosting a Mother's Day brunch or luncheon. I was looking through some older magazines and came upon my inspiration for this post and thought how fun this would be to create the magazine inspiration below and surprise all the moms at your table.

This original post was from about 10 years and two houses ago. It's just as much fun today and if you don't have a wheelbarrow, no problem. A basket, crate or doughbowl would be just as perfect for a garden display tablescape.

Vintage Baskets in the Entry

Last week in honor of May Day and Mother's Day, I put together two little baskets, one vintage, the other basket new but with similar elements. I was inspired by the old tradition of May Day where you would put together a small bouquet and hang it on the front porch door. Then you would hide and wait for the lady of the house to come to the door. Such a sweet gesture, but maybe not too practical in today's time and culture.

Spring Pastels at All About Home #194

Hey Friends, can you EVEN believe it's May? Before you know it it will be summer! We're in the middle of tree pollen season and this few weeks is long stringy mounds that roll like tumbleweed through the yard. I have sneezing fits just watering the plants. We had our first "babysitting gig" Saturday night with our little sweetie. I have a magic rocking chair that helps ease the sting of mommy and daddy leaving for a night out. Just a few tears and lip trembling, but she's such a good baby! Ahh, the pure joy of holding her in my arms for two hours.

Weekend Cottage Review #1

Hey there friends, I thought I'd try having a weekly post where I share some fun things from around the Internet and also share some thoughts and ideas that are more personal. I've done this before, but when things in life became crazy or I was too busy with blogging commitments I'd slack off and lose momentum. But I've realized there are so many times when I'd like to share just a small idea or image or some random thought, but I had no place to really do that. My brain fills up with bits and pieces and I'd like to have a dedicated space to share them.
