SomeBunny Loves You in the Holiday Cupboard

Back in February my husband decided he was going to combine 2 storage units into 1 larger one, so of course he found a few boxes he thought I might want to go through. Clothes, shoes, pantry items, (eeeck) but two were marked "Easter", so of course I told him to bring them home for me to look through.

Some of the girls' old Easter baskets and a few rogue bunnies were inside. I hadn't seen these two sweet white rabbits in 10 years. I have another Easter box somewhere, but I was thrilled to see these two old friends again.

I always look forward to the change of seasons and holidays because I get to design and decorate a new theme here in the Holiday Cupboard. This year I wanted to do a more "white" theme but I don't have lot of white dishes other than my ironstone pieces; but very few dishes. When I found these white rabbits with floral accents I knew I could use my great grandmother's dishes as a backdrop... if I could locate them.

Along with my sorting through boxes from the storage unit, I also needed to sort through my boxes in my storage room here at the house. You know the domino effect. So I moved the boxes out and on the very bottom of the stack was the box with family dishes.

I always wonder what the brown bookpage bunny below has on his mind, because his beady little eyes look a bit ominous.

Here is a post from 2014 when I shared the Homer Laughlin Virginia Rose dishes.

I just gathered up many of my white pieces and layered them in. The top left shelf has a Hartley Greens Creamware Leeds teapot, along with a Hull vase and a USA Pottery tea for two teapot on the second shelf. Mix and match vintage china and floral pottery are stacked, with pink and white blooms the common denominator.

The bottom shelf has a vintage Fitz and Floyd "Raspberry" woven platter, along with a small Homer Laughlin platter. Putting together a themed cupboard doesn't require sets or expensive pieces, and that's what works for me. Color is a main factor for me, and here whites and small florals get together for a fun Spring and Easter display.

Last year I styled a few Beatrix Potter books in the cupboard but don't know if I ever shared them here on the blog.

Thanks for coming by friends, hope you're having a wonderful week!

  6. How fun, rediscovering old friends! I was looking for egg cups in my storage unit last week (never did find them), but touched on many tubs that were labeled Easter and spring for a look-see, and that was fun. I love your family HL dishes.

  7. If the Homer Laughlin Virginia Rose pattern dishes with the sweet floral decals are your great grandmother's, I think we must be cousins and it's my turn to keep them. So pretty!
