Christmas in the Dining Room

Thank you to all of you good friends,
who came out to participate in the
I'm still going through the links for a post of a few of your homes.
A little unexpected garbage disposal malfunction,
has me waiting for a plumber and installation.
Always fun for Christmas!
(better now, than next week!)

I thought I would change out my Milk Maid Vintage Print for my favorite
William Bouguereau Madonna, "Lambs".

Christmas Fun on the Baker's Rack

I always like to keep the Baker's Rack in the Kitchen Sitting Area as a place to have some fun with vintage pieces. And what can be more fun than Vintage with some Christmas Cheer. The Baker's Rack is my place to mix and match and bring out the Kitsch for the Holidays.

It'll be a Plaid Plaid Christmas...

(Wasn't that an old Elvis song?)

I'm mixing it up a little this year.
I have a lot of "stuff", and there's no way to use it all,
so I decided to try some new ideas
for Christmas this year.

New to me...

I'm frequently the last one to know
about some amazing item, bargain, or trend.
duh...wow..."isn't that so cool?"

So this post is my latest installment of
"Everyone else may already know... but"
I just had to share this in case there's anyone else out there
...ah, um...a little uninformed.

this is paper, peeps.

In Praise of Plaid

Plaid is my go-to for Christmas.
I like to keep it simple, and that's what Tartan Plaid gives me.
The Tartan Plaid fabrics bring an instant festive Christmas flair.
Here are a few pics to share the Tartan Love...

Thanksgiving Sitting Area

Time for the Thanksgiving Edition
of the Kitchen Sitting Area!
I realize that many people in Blogland may not be all that interested
in how my Kitchen Sitting Area changes with the Holidays and Seasons.
But since you're here, I'm hoping you can enjoy the Seasonal Fun for what it is.

Contemplating a New Fall Centerpiece...

That's what is going on...

I'm thinking about a new centerpiece display for the Dining Room Table. I haven't really made a commitment yet, because I'm not ready to start bringing the turkeys out. But since October is flying by, I'm putting together some ideas. It's a work in progress...

Gettin' his Fall on...

I tried to tell Beaufort that it was a little too early for Fall decorating...

but he didn't listen.

He wanted to try on his new plaid scarf...

and then he wouldn't take it off.

so I had to humor him.
"OK, Beaufort, it's pretty close.
you can leave it on."

Do you or someone you know,
 have unreasonable feelings about Fall?
yeah, I know.

Christmas Milk Carrier Centerpiece

I had a lot of fun decorating the kitchen and adjoining sitting and kitchen dining area this year. I still have Christmas decor I haven't located, so I tried to make use of the things that I could find. I brought out one of my old milk carriers to hold a Christmas Kitchen table centerpiece. I'm a sucker for any kind of carrier, tote, basket, especially when they're filled with seasonal kitchen goodies. So I grabbed some red transferware, a red Holly tea towel, a candle, a tiny ironstone pitcher with boxwood, and a faux paperwhite... instant centerpiece!

I needed to get the "feel" of what Christmas could be like in here. Having just moved a little over two months ago, I'm still trying to decide how to decorate this space. I added one of my kitchen valences to the window for a little color, and so RED and some PLAID seemed the way to go. I still don't have prints up or any wall decor. I have a ton of boxes labeld "prints" and "mirrors", so I need to wait to get them all unpacked before I start hanging things up. I don't think I've lived with bare walls this long, ever.

My Toile pillow, some Tartan wool throws, French ticking pillows, and a PB pillow dress up the white wicker and add to the Christmas color.

My Sheep Head and my French Country frame are on The Chippy Old Door in the corner. I wanted to add some color in, so I choose a French Country fruit wallpaper design to use as a backing. It adds just the right amount of Christmas reds and greens. Click HERE to see what I did last Spring and HERE, this Summer with these two.

My chandy with the vintage Shiney Brites, garland,
and a birdnest. I did this specifically to drive the kitties crazy...

Let's just say the bird's nest was found on the floor a few days ago.
hmmmm....

just sayin'...

I'm so glad my "Sunporch" baker's rack and wicker set are in a warm spot at this house. The sunporch at the old house was just too cold this time of year to enjoy, other than looking at it...brrrrrr....

Even the vintage pitchfork got a little "Christmas"!

Extra ornaments found a basket for display...

I added a Christmas Home Tour of this year and the Christmas Home Tour from 2013 links to the "Pages" section under my new Christmas Header. See what was going on last year if you have a minute. Those pics are a sweet memory, but I'm glad to be here, at our new home. Just wish I could find my spatterware coffeepot and Santa Mug!

Have a great weekend,
Hubbs and I have a grocery shopping marathon to attend.

Christmas on the Sunporch 2013

I know this is a busy weekend for almost everyone. The weather here has turned rainy with chances for snow and a little ice, so I'm glad I don't have to get out to do a lot. We still have to buy groceries, but I'm sending the hubbs out on that expedition. I envy those people that have everything done and are now sitting next to the fabulously decked Christmas Tree and a warm fire sipping hot cocoa. I'm almost there...

I still have a couple of Christmas decor posts;
I hope you'll indulge me as I squeeze out all the "Christmas" I can.
I'll just share the pics and remind you that you can click on the image,
and then click again for a big pic.

Isn't this squirrel pillow adorable?
My daughter bought it for me for Christmas at least ten years ago.

Vintage Elf Knee-hugger

You can tell that
I've been loving the plaid this Christmas!

Have a wonderful weekend;
now go grab that hot cocoa!
