Easter in the Holiday Cupboard

You all will be thrilled to know that this year I have recovered the lost stash of Easter Goodies. Last year I was bemoaning the fact that I had a bunch of my vintage Easter things that were lost somewhere in the Twilight Zone. You know, that place that various and sundry items go to that is unbeknownst to your conscious mind. Yep, that happens to me every once in awhile, and when it does it triggers all kinds of thoughts about the state of mental health concerning moi.

(not too old cauliflower teapot)

I prefer to regard it as just a busy person
with a lot of "stuff" and not enough organizational skills.

(mini wheelbarrow with turnips)

Anyhoo, a couple of my old chalkware bunnies have found their way out of that parallel universe and back into the Holiday Cupboard.

I love old seed catalogs and Garden books
and just received a new purchase that I'll show you soon.

See the green garden box here on the bottom shelf?
Next week I'm going to share an idea I have for making them...

It won't be rocket science, but it will be be fun...
and on the cheap.

"Fairytale" Inspiration for Easter continued...

Last weekend I shared with you a beautiful new book
by the people that bring us Jeanne d'arc Living magazine,
 entitled "Fairytale Easter".

I fell in love with all the wonderful
Easter and Spring inspired creations that grace each page.

Little did I know when I visited Leola's Vintage Home and Garden Spring Open House last week, that someone else had been inspired to create these same lovely decoupaged eggs. My friend Pam, who always has some of the most amazing creations and displays around, had crafted her own version of these Easter lovelies.

So a few came home with me
for my own Easter display in an old cardboard suitcase.

They joined other bits and pieces of vintage ephemera,
baskets with moss, and a nest or two for a little vintage Easter vignette.

Aren't these embellished vintage Easter postcards
just precious with bits of twine, tulle, and feathers?

One of my collection of old church fans in the background.
Jesus with the lambs are my favorites.

A hyacinth bulb and old book wrapped in stamped cotton ribbon.

It's times like this that I remember that my true love is
"all things vintage".

Christmas Copy Cat

Happy Weekend Everyone!

One of my favorite link parties is Debbiedoos' Copy Cat Challenge, where we take an inspirational image from a magazine, book, Pinterest, etc. and then try to "copy cat" the look.

This time, I chose an image from one of my favorite Christmas books, Merry and Bright , a Country Living Publication that came out several years ago. It's full of wonderful vintage ideas  for decorating with a Vintage Christmas.

I don't have a lot, but Red Transferware is always a staple for my Vintage Christmas decor.

And of course a little glittered Bottle Brush Tree

This is just an easy little "copy cat" with a lot of charm.

I'm posting early since Monday is The Marketplace
over here at Common Ground.
But run by Debbie's and get your Copy Cat on in plenty of time
for her fun party this Monday December 10!

 Have a great weekend!

Holiday Cupboard for Fall...

I've had a little owl fetish going on this Fall. Last year it was crows, this year it's the ever-mysterious, dark-of-night, can-be-a little-creepy, Barn-ibus Hoot-icus.

And some of them have come to live in my
Holiday Cupboard.

(pay no attention to the old-school, 10 year old attempt at covering a large French door when there were no other options and I'm too cheap right now to try to find something else, curtains.)

For those of you "hoo" ve been hanging around for awhile
you know that this is my "married" cupboard downstairs,
that changes out each Holiday or Season;
hence the name "Holiday Cupboard".

I thought I'd group some of my old cameras and alarm clocks,
found at local fleas for just a few dollars,
together with this black, neutral, and orange theme.

Love this guy's silhouette and slightly ominous eyes.
(found last weekend at Inspirational Home)

These are two very old Children's Encyclopedias.
These were a dollar each at our local swap meet.
what a deal. love the graphics.

And it's just not Fall without some Birdies and Squirrels

If you'd like to see last year's Fall Holiday Cupboard, which was a runner up in the Fall Cottages and Bungalow's Contest, then just click here. Hope you're having a great weekend, lot's more "Fabulous Fall Fun" coming up!
