Christmas Copy Cat

Happy Weekend Everyone!

One of my favorite link parties is Debbiedoos' Copy Cat Challenge, where we take an inspirational image from a magazine, book, Pinterest, etc. and then try to "copy cat" the look.

This time, I chose an image from one of my favorite Christmas books, Merry and Bright , a Country Living Publication that came out several years ago. It's full of wonderful vintage ideas  for decorating with a Vintage Christmas.

I don't have a lot, but Red Transferware is always a staple for my Vintage Christmas decor.

And of course a little glittered Bottle Brush Tree

This is just an easy little "copy cat" with a lot of charm.

I'm posting early since Monday is The Marketplace
over here at Common Ground.
But run by Debbie's and get your Copy Cat on in plenty of time
for her fun party this Monday December 10!

 Have a great weekend!

What to do with vintage birdcages...

They were a huge fad a few years ago, but now they've become a staple in vintage home and garden decor. In the last few years I've bought and sold many of them, but now I'm keeping the ones I have left to sprinkle here and there, in the house and garden. Here are just a few I grabbed for a photo vignette.

We've had parakeets and a conure in the past, but cats and birds in the same household can be a little stressful on everyone. (mostly the birds) But an empty birdcage is a little sad to me, so fill it with something fun and it feels like a cloche; a great place to display plants, candles, flower pots, even dishes, but don't forget the little birdies!

(the backdrop is my antique dressing screen that I papered in pages from an antique French Language Lesson book).

Say Hi to this sweet little guy...

and here's his little friend

I'll be linking up with Debbie's Copy Cat Challenge on Thursday
so here's my inspiration,
The June 2012 issue of Country Living Magazine.

I'll also be partying at these great places:

See you tomorrow for

Butterflies and a French Message Board

I love doing things "themed" with nature, especially in the Spring.
Little green shoots and buds have me all excited.
So when I was thinking about Debbie's Copy Cat Challenge,
I of course wanted it to be something that echoed the essence of Spring.

I keep this French Ribboned Message Board
on my computer desk with notes and photos and cards.
I had to edit it a little to make it photo-worthy,
then I added the little paper butterflies.

Just the right amount of Springy-ness.

My younger daughter loves to "embellish" and personalize her notes.
makes them more special...

Here is my inspiration,
Victoria Magazine, May 2001 cover.

Debbie's kicking off a week of Spring time fun.
Be sure and check out the other copy cats at the party.
