Elegant Glitter Snow Owls DIY

As the calendar goes, it's a little late in the season to be sharing Fall DIY projects, but I was ready to post my Late October Entry where I'm using my pretty little Glitter Snow Owls. So before I shared my current October Entry, I wanted to post again how my little Glitter Owls came to be.

Romancing the October Holiday Cupboard

Last year for the "first" October Holiday Cupboard, it was natural for me to come up with a whimsical theme for late October. But this year, as I do in any seasonal display, I like to stretch a little bit and use different vintage items to create something seasonal and holiday compatible. So instead of just using vintage pumpkins and Fall critters (which I love), this time I brought out some "romantic" vintage items to give it an altogether new look.

October Inspiration at All About Home #113

Hello friends and Welcome
to the All About Home Link Party!

Anyone else out there that wants to grab ahold and slow down October? It's my favorite month of the year and I want to be able to savor each moment! The leaves haven't even changed yet and October is slipping away. Christmas decor and projects have already started showing up in blogland. OKay, I get it, I just want to drink in the colors of Fall without Santa Claus banging on the door!

This time of year we have so many fun Fall projects and DIYs;
it's always an abundance of great posts, ideas and inspiration.
Thank you for taking the time to come by and share what you're up to this week.
We always look forward to seeing all the great DIYs, decor, crafts, gardening,
and recipes that you are all creating.

Fall Cottage Front Porch

It's taken me a minute to get things rounded up for the Fall Front Porch this year. Every project takes me three times as long since the back surgery. I'm on track with recovery, it's just a lengthy recovery and I can't move too fast or work too long. I started with a few mums which replaced the sad moth-eaten impatiens that we planted in the vintage concrete pots on either side of the steps. Then I added a few pumpkins, but before I even finished up the first stage of fall the squirrels had started eating them.

Welcome to October

Hello Friends and Happy October!
It's always been one of my "favoritest" times of the year.
No birthdays or special occasions.
(whoops, well yes, my husband proposed in October)
I just love the crisp, colorful changes that happen in this month.

Scenes from the Late October Dining Room

Hi Friends, I need to share the rest of my Dining Room,
before it's time to change things up for Thanksgiving...

For me, decorating is a "process". Even the seasonal decorating. I have certain pieces I like to use and keep them as a basic part of the landscape. The large metal Italian basket is one of those basic pieces on the Dining Room table. The basket is big and makes a statement. The heavy chairs are also big, so whatever is on the table has to be bigger. It's also easy to add and subtract floral elements to keep the basket seasonal.

A Vintage Tote and Views of the Fall Kitchen

I think I've only shared my kitchen twice before... ok maybe just once, here at the "new" house. I love this kitchen, but it's usually in the process of being busy, and I tend to be a little messy and disorganized in here. But I wanted to share a fall look for my vintage tote here on the island, so I thought I'd just go crazy and take pics of the rest of the kitchen.

Backyard Naturals Bouquet

One of the reasons I love Fall so very much is the change in the coloring of leaves, flowers, and shrubbery. Where Spring is full of greens and lovely pastel shades of flowers and buds, Fall can be just as amazing visually with all the glorious brilliant color.

Woodsy China Cupboard for Fall

Hi Friends...
I'm getting ready to tweak my "Early Fall" Holiday Cupboard, to an October version that has more current seasonal color and vibe to it. When we were living at our last home I didn't have a spot for the Holiday Cupboard, so I focused with seasonal dishes on my Kitchen China Cupboard. I used more dishes than odds and ends, but it was still fun to "decorate" with natural and seasonal bits of bittersweet and leaves.

Vintage Fall Front Porch

Well, I finally got my front porch put together for Fall a few weeks ago. This year's version is much more enjoyable than last, since last year we were in the middle of a big landscape ordeal. Which means even though my front porch was intact, the rest of the yard was a disaster. Well hey, the front porch wasn't even that great because the workmen would tromp all over things, leave their fast-food drink and lunch debris and generally thought of it as their "personal closet" for all their junk. That meant daily clean up, but it was worth it.

this year
(no overgrown and claustrophobic shrubbery)

October on the Washstand

I've been having  a little problem keeping myself focused on accomplishing decor tasks lately. I've called it DADD before, but I don't want to be callous or offend anyone who genuinely deals with ADD. I'm dealing with (Decorating) ADD. I just have more space to play in than I've had before, and a lot of fun Fall stuff to use.

All About Home Link Party #12

Hi Friends, thanks so much for coming by to visit
 here at All About Home!

It's always so much fun now in late October. Leaves are changing, the weather has cooled off, we're having fun with Halloween, thinking about Thanksgiving and even making plans for Christmas. I'm loving all the great seasonal inspiration you all are bringing. Thanks so much for being here and sharing your fun ideas with all of us!

Fall Vignette on the Farmtable

I wanted to have a little fun this week with one of my vintage birdcages and a sassy little blackbird that I've had for a few years. He didn't fare very well during the move, as his cute little paper hat became unattached. I did the easy thing and used some transparent tape to get it back on. Don't look too close. He's almost good as new.

Woodland Creatures and the Late October Hearth Room

As October heads into it's last weeks, I'm tweaking a few things around the house. I'm bringing in a few darker colors now that the heat wave is over, and some heavier textures. Two old friends are joining me on the mantel to add a little woodsy charm in the Hearth Room.

All About Home Link Party #11

Hi Everyone, and Welcome to All About Home!

I think we're all feeling like it's Fall now that we're in the middle of October and our temps have finally come down. All the better to love those wool throws and grab a hot drink to enjoy the party.

Wow everyone, we had a big increase in link-ups last week, and it's so great to see the party growing. It gives us all a chance to get to know more people and see more inspiration that's going on as we're coming up to Halloween and Thanksgiving.
