The Entry

I love an Entry Hall. It sounds so "English Manor House" to me. "The Entry"... In reality we all have one whether our home is large or small, grand estate or intimate cottage. If you have a front door...then you have an "entry". One thing I remember hearing is that it always needs a mirror. You know, a place to check to see if you are "presentable" to whomever it is that's arriving. Hair in place, no broccoli in your teeth, try to eliminate the scary factor so the UPS guy will be sure and show up next time.

So here are some photos of mine. If you've been with me a while you've seen it before, but just for the fun of it, pretend it's new! Well, I DO like to keep the faux flowers current, I'm just about to break out the sunflowers and Blackeyed Susan's, just been too busy painting furniture to brave the storage room boxes.

Make Plans for a Patriotic Vintage Inspiration Friday

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to announce the theme for this week's
Vintage Inspiration Friday.

So who's up for a party to share our
"vintage and vintage inspired" Patriotic items?

This could be an outside July 4th Party,
patriotic decor display,
authentic items celebrating the good ole USA,
recipes for the 4th,
memories from past July 4th's.

You know..."anything vintage or vintage inspired"
with that Patriotic theme.

I have a button on the sidebar
that I'd love for you to grab and display
on your sidebar and blog post.
(thanks for sharing the party fun!)

Sorry it's a little "squishy"
it was hard coming up with a good image.

You can link past posts if you'd like
please just keep it in the vintage and July 4th theme.

Thanks everyone,
love ya,

Vintage Easter Inspiration this Week

I've hesitated to make any plans for a Vintage Easter Party
for Vintage Inspiration Friday,
as it falls on Good Friday.
And I really don't want anyone to think
that I think Easter is all about chicks and bunnies.

Hopefully we all know the real meaning of Easter,
just like we all know that Christmas isn't about Santa Claus,
so I want to be sensitive to our sacred beliefs this week.

(image from the Graphics Fairy)

A lot of us have vintage Easter decor and memorabilia,
so I decided that I should go ahead and plan a little get together
that gives us a place to share our vintage Easter.

I'd love for you to share your family traditions
and photos of childhood Easter celebrations.

And of course VIF is also for any other vintage inspiration,
not just Vintage Easter...
"anything vintage or vintage inspired"

 Celebrating Christ's wonderful Resurrection Day,
I send Blessings for Easter Week, dear friends!

See you Thursday afternoon
love,
Debra

Fall Nesting

Today I thought I would share one of the ways that I get ready for Fall. One of the very first things that I do to get that inspiration for Fall is to change out my flower arrangements for the upcoming season. There are so many little hints in nature here in the Midwest that prepare us for the arrival of  Autumn. The air feels and smells different with the cooler temperatures, the light seems to change and take on a "slant" and a golden hue, and the tops of the trees now have a change in color.

I use this old wicker flower basket in my entry hall year round. This time of year I've added some fall leaves and berry stems to the dried hydrangeas that were there in August. I like to make a subtle transition in the seasons. Adding a little each day; changing one thing, then another.

In my Dining Room, I'm really enjoying seeing how "Fall" brightens up my French iron basket. I painted and wallpapered my Dining Room earlier in the summer. The cream and damask paper really reflect the warm colors of the fall leaves and flowers.

Bringing out the Brown Transferware is another sign that Fall is on it's way.

On the new "white" console table further into the entry that just had it's metamorphosis,
the iron urn now holds golden Aspen leaves.

And the front door's wreath is now a colorful blend of black eyed susans and sunflowers.

Bringing nature indoors with my decor in arrangements is just the start of the Fall Nesting Season for me. Sometimes when the weather is still warm (OK...hot!) we can get in the mood by just seeing what others are up to. We still have warm weather here, but usually in about 2 weeks we can start to think about sweaters and jeans again, yay!!

Please visit the Fall Nesting Party at the Inspired Room
for much more inspiration for Fall!

And I'm joining in at A Stroll Through Life with Marty for

Get your Fall On!!
So much more to come.

Have a great week everyone,
love,
Debra

Hoarders Party

Do you ever feel like this?
Drowning in a sea of stuff?

I know I have, and not THAT long ago.
In this last year of blogging
I've "outed" myself several times.

and now?...
things are much improved!

We've been on a major mission this summer to
clean up and get somewhat organized.

OK, how organized can you be if you have an antique mall space?
I'm just sayin'...

You HAVE to have a stash of stuff at the ready
since you never know when something will sell,
and hey, there has to be back up!
...right?

So these photos from my garage are really pretty good for ME!
Considering up until last fall you couldn't even get a car in here.

Now, instead of being packed to the ceiling,
 it's only half way up!

And my storage room downstairs has been lined with shelving
so you can actually get in there now without risking a trip to the ER!

So go and check out Shelly at Bungalow Bling
She's throwing a party for all us hoarders
and for the crafts that have gone wrong.
got any of those?

love,
Debra

Sweet Blossoms for Silver Sunday

Our neighbors behind us just happen to have a huge crepe myrtle
that just happens to hang waaaay over our back fence.
Lucky me.
So now I can enjoy them too.

My silver water pitcher,
a small silver tray that at one time held our mail,
and my silver wedding hand mirror...

white vintage Sunday gloves
and a crucifix and medal necklace
are all together to enjoy a summer Sunday.

The crepe myrtle's sweet scent fills the late summer air.

Delicate white buds and blossoms
