Vintage Inspiration Friday #29: Going Green for St. Patty's

To celebrate
St. Patrick's Day
I thought I'd grab a few of my favorite green things.

Watering cans come in all colors at my house.
I have plenty of the plain zinc kind,
but I always love me some accent color for the season.

So for Spring, I snipped a few branches of my monster forsythia out back
and brought them in to force.

This little chair was one of a set of table and chairs that was
a present for my 2nd Birthday.
My brother and sister used it too,
so I only managed to get one of the chairs.

 I found this precious little book last year;
(published in 1933)
my favorite shade of green,
french gardening graphic,
and perfect for my vintage "garden book" collection.

This is one of the photos inside.

Ivy and miscellaneous Spring stuff
in one of my carriers.

Uh oh...look who's here!

Out for a tasty snack of forsythia.
The girls love Spring too!

And now for some inspiration fun from last week:
Be sure and click for some great ideas!

Freckled Laundry

Today I'm joining in on these great parties.

Hope you'll join in the
Vintage Inspiration Party!
Please grab the button for your post and sidebar
so everyone can share in the fun!

and if you've been featured then there's an ap for that!

I may not get to leave a comment with everyone this weekend
but I'll be coming by.
Thanks so much in advance for linking up for the party!

I had a washer malfunction, which led to purchasing a new washer, dryer,
and while we were at it, a new dishwasher.
(dang these things are expensive!)
I've been without a washer since Monday...eeeck!

And then...
since the appliances were out
I've been painting and redoing my laundry room!
Don't know if it will make the blog cut,
but it sure has been overdue.

So have a fun weekend;
I have my work cut out for me!

love you all,
Debra

p.s. I'll try to get out the rest of the wonderful photos from Leola's this weekend

The "White" Stuff!

Hey Everyone,
it looks as if a good portion of blogland is under a heavy blanket of white, today.
We probably have about 12 inches here and more is falling.
We dodged the ice and thankfully the power outages that usually come with it.

So today, I wanted to share some "whites" that I put together to stay in keeping with not only the snow, but add a few sprinkles of hearts for February, our month of Romance.

Remember my chairs that we used for our sunset lakeside dinner last fall?
They've found a spot in the Living Room
but today one is holding some of my ironstone and linens.

I've realized these are of Gustavian (Swedish) design.
Definitely old, but recaned. I found them for 13 dollars apiece.
I know!!!!!

love the carving on the back

We went to the Springfield City Wide Garage Sale last Sunday,
and I picked up a few pieces of ironstone to add to my platter collection from England.

This one is the same from the top photo and is Johnson Brothers.
It's in pretty good shape but has a small chip on the rim.
I have a stack of these fancy scalloped edge English serving platters on my kitchen counter.

(vintage crocheted heart I've had since forever)

This little pitcher was given to me recently by my Mother-in-law.
It belonged to her grandmother.

This Meakin platter has been used hard...
it has a small crack, and lots of pitting,
and was definitely a workhorse.
It weighs 4 pounds!!!

I found this lovely linen runner there too.

a little taste of winter here in SW Missouri

Right outside my sunroom door on the deck

...and speaking of sunrooms,
If you haven't been by to visit Jill this morning,
we're hanging out on the porch!

I'm linking to Kathleen for White Wednesday

Stay warm and snuggly!
Happy February!
love,
Debra

Snuggle up

These crisp Fall days
hold such a fascination for me.

The colors of the leaves and sky;
the critters, (squirrel,s chipmunks, and birds)
 all scurrying around
filling their pantries for the cold winter days ahead.
My old chippy Adirondack chair
calls out for a good book and a hot mug of cider.

I love to mix the patterns of plaid, stripes, and florals.

Pendleton and Scottish blankets are my favorite cuddle on these cool days.

Halloween is over,
but Fall will still be here awhile.

My mums and ferns survived a killing frost last week,
but soon it will be too cold to try to cover them.

I just wanted to say "Thanks" again,
for the great turnout for
 Vintage Inspiration Friday!

We made a trip to St. Louis to visit our kids,
so we were constantly on the go.
Come back Friday, I have some wonderful photos
of the local fun.

I'm joining Kathleen for White Wednesday

and Cindy for Show and Tell Friday

Hope you're having a wonderful week!
(I'm pooped!)

love,
Debra
