Vintage Finds for Valentine's Decor

The last few days I've been hunting down my boxes of Valentine's Day things and I've located one tub, but the other is somewhere in the vast nether regions of the Arctic Storage; AKA, the garage. Since I'm not into freezing, I'm having to try to rethink some other vintage items that can become stand-ins for my usual Valentine goodies.

Valentine Entry

I have a few vintage favorite pieces I've used for Valentine's for years.
I mix and match and move them around each year, and this year
I'm using my vintage ceramic mold here as an accent on the Dining Room Table.

Share the Love...

I don't go "all out" for Valentine's Day. I don't think many of us do unless we have kiddos that have fun with it, and expect to see decorations for every holiday that comes along. I enjoy bringing some reds and pinks and vintage items into the decor, especially here in the Kitchen Sitting Area. That's the place where I can indulge my holiday decorating gene to the fullest.

Vintage Valentine "Love"

I'm getting a few things together for Valentine's Day here in the Kitchen Sitting Area,
but it's taking me a little longer this last week to get things accomplished.
So, I thought I'd share a little Valentine's Love while I'm getting the rest of it together.

Moss Covered Heart: How-To

I can't tell you how long I've wanted to make one of these. Working with moss can be messy to say the least, but I had found a paper mache form in the shape of a heart at Michael's, so I thought I might as well dive in. literally. I didn't want to run around town looking for supplies, so I hoped that I had everything that I needed in my stash. (I was a little short on moss since I'd used a bunch on another recent project). Yesterday I shared my inspiration for a Moss Covered Heart for Valentine's Day that will go into Spring and Summer.

Moss Covered Hearts

When thoughts of Valentine's Day and thoughts of Spring collide, I decided a moss covered heart would be fun to create. My inspiration piece has always been this beautiful moss covered heart with Autumn florals and leaves by Robin Gilmore, owner of The Vintage Suitcase, here in Springfield. I've had this photo in my archives and on the blog for several years. I love her work, but wanted something Valentine-y with fresh Spring-y colors. I didn't want to "copy", just give my own interpretation.

Valentine Birdies, a Photo Bomb, and a Winner

For me, Valentines Day signals the end of winter and the start of all things Spring in my decorating. Even though the weather sometimes doesn't agree, I put away all my evergreens and snowy winter-y things and concentrate on bringing in a few flowering faux branches, some lighter colors, and start thinking garden and seeds.

Valentine's Day Shopping

Our area has several wonderful shops and boutiques; many with a mix of antiques, vintage, and market items. Quite a few have added lines of clothing and accessories displayed with a vintage vibe. I've really missed my shopping outings this last year, so last Friday I made a special visit to one of my favorites, Inspirational Home.

Entry Dressed for Valentine's Day

I'm so glad it's February! January felt long and cold and boring. To me, January feels like trudging through mud, creatively speaking. I'm ready for some hearts and flowers, chocolate, and little cupids flying around. So...I'm glad it's time that we can do a little fun decorating for Valentine's Day.

Coming Attractions...

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give you a quick Heads Up for another fun Give Away from my friend, Heather, from Elliott-Heath Designs. I'm out the door for a little shop visiting, but I wanted you to be watching for it. She has some of the best pillow designs, for all occasions. If you have a minute go take a peek. We'll be doing another "Pin Your Pillow" Give Away!

See You Soon,

Visual Valentines

I love to go shopping, and part of the fun is checking out the store window displays, especially the holiday ones. Creativity and Visual Displays go hand in hand when it comes to merchandising, and what could be more of a challenge that taking a large empty space and transforming it into a shopping fantasy. It's been awhile since I've been shopping in St. Louis, but I was wondering what kind of Valentine fun I was missing. Anthropologie and Louis Vuitton are always ones you can count on to be out-of-the-box amazing. Here are a few images from some Valentine Inspired store window displays...

all images from my Pinterest board, Valentines

and here are a few images of Valentine fun from blogposts, past.

And just to round things out,
I decided to go ahead and display my red transferware in my new old/cupboard.

Have a wonderful Valentine's Evening...

Be Inspired #176

Hi Everyone and Welcome to
Be Inspired
Do you have big plans for Valentine's Day?
How fun to have it land on a Friday, for all of you "date night" peeps. We eat out several times over the weekend, so I imagine we'll do our regular Friday Night, "Movie Night" with some take out Indian Food. Movie Night consists of a Netflix choice and after dinner a large gray cat camping out on my lap for the duration. Miss Wrigley prefers something quiet and romantic, as she hates car chases and loud explosions. However you spend your evening, just let it be with the ones you love!

OK, on to the party.
Let's check out some of the wonderful links from last week:

The always amazingly creative, Julia, from Vintage With Laces
made this wonderful Junky LOVE Sign

Leave a love note for your sweetie, with these Mini Love Letters
from Kerryanne at Shabby Art Boutique

This Secretary ReDeux started out needing all kinds of help.
The perfect challenge for Karen from Redoux Interiors.

How wonderful are these Personalized Grain Sack Cards?
from Lori at Marvin's Daughters
I'm hoping she'll do special orders!

Laurie from Heaven's Walk found that her fabric stash was taking over her studio.
So she created this Vintage Blue Cabinet, which looks like a real vintage piece.

These are a great project; DIY Column Pedestals
from Poppy at With a Dash of Color.

Need a special Valentine breakfast?
Whip up a batch of these yummy Scones and Jam
from Jeanette at Creating a Life

thanks gals for sharing the inspiration!
