Summer Sideboard and Cookbook Cupboard With Patriotic Color

Hello there dear friends! I hope you all are having a wonderful Father's Day Weekend. I wanted to share part 2 of the Hearth Room patriotic decor, that I started earlier this week. The Hearth Room has a lot of fun spots to decorate seasonally, so I concentrated on the mantel and seating area in Part 1.
I brought out my antique Blue Willow tureen for the focal point on the sideboard and added in some red transferware, new pieces of blue transferware saucers, and a fun set of vintage grain stripe napkins that I've recently found. I'll be sharing a Patriotic tablescape in the garden room next week where I'll be using my new finds.

I usually fill this old tureen with shells during the summer months, but this time I nestled a large candle inside instead. I'll share some other posts using this tureen at the end of this post. My small collection of antique crockery jars line the upper shelf above the mirror. Small flags add a bit more patriotic color to the mix.

Here's the view from earlier this week where I shared the mantel and seating area.

Along with the sideboard, I always have fun "seasonalizing" the cookbook cupboard. This month it's an easy vignette with an antique summer print from Robert Atkinson Fox and one of my smaller Greek Key vintage concrete planters with a flag display.

Recently I shared my vintage piggy cutting board when I joined in with the Lifestyle of Love vintage group. He's on the top shelf grabbing some summertime attention. I always have to laugh a bit because the wood grain on the cutting board appears as a smile. I'm sure that was intentional to whoever created this hefty fella.

I keep my cookie jars here in the cupboard year round. The large cow jar was my great grandmother's from the 40's. He's a cutie! A couple of my old cutting boards are on the second shelf behind my Le Creuset dutch oven.

To balance out the wicker lunch hamper and planter, I'm using my old birdcage.

And it wouldn't be the Cookbook Cupboard without my standard apology for the bottom shelf, where the cookbooks hang out from my girlies years at home. Our younger daughter loves to cook when she has time. Since she's the new mommy, her culinary endeavors are on hold. So a lot of the cookbooks are basic volumes for kids and teens just learning to cook. On a personal note, my hubby isn't into involved recipes and spices, so I just keep things simple now. Okay with me. Right now I'm about keeping things easy.

  6. Your cookbook cupboard has had many changes over the years, all lovely of course. I wish I had a cupboard for my cookbooks, but these days I save them online since storage is priority here.
