Can you guess where this is going...?

I love the use of the "double entrende"...

I found this great frenchy burlap runner this Fall at Robin's and knew that it would end up on my Dining Room table after Christmas. But I also knew that once it was there, you wouldn't be able to see the wonderful graphics, so here it is draped across one of my slipcovered chairs in the Living Room.

Very heavy linen-y hemp-y burlap-y goodness.
So here is where the fun "other meaning" comes in...
look in the lower right corner.

My little companion, the burlap addict.

Her brain is being taken over by the desire for burlap indulgence.

"Hmmm....what's my  next move?
Hey mom, don't you have someplace else to be?"

ahhhhh.....
oooooohhh....

So, once I removed the slobbering mess,
the burlap went to it's proper destination.
sans cat.

I'm trying to transition from Christmas to "Winter"
more later from the zoo...

My grandkid is a real dog...

sounds pretty pathetic, huh?
But hey, it's the truth...

You met Vinnie last Christmas, and this little man can steal your heart.

He's a riot, and a little better behaved than last Christmas.

He's in his buffalo check rain gear, but hates it.
He can hardly move, he thinks he's in a straight jacket!

(sorry the photos are fuzzy, this was before I realized
my new lens was set on auto while my camera was on manual)

Last Christmas my shin and his head had a little encounter,
and my shin came out the loser.
He has a hard head and in one of his chasing games he plowed into me.
I won't go into details but I'm really glad his obedience school was a success.

This is Vinnie's mom and dad.
Our daughter Erin and her husband.

and just so you'll be sure and know that the Living Room
actually does get lived in, these are a couple of photos
 of the kids unwrapping presents.

This is our younger daughter, Alyson and her husband.

do you feel sorry for me?

My grandkids are dogs and cats.

(sorry no photos of the old ornery black cat
that will slap the stuff out of you as you walk by
and the rotten, but oh so cute Himalayan )

OK, just wanted to share some real life with you.

Hope you all are having a great weekend.
I had to do a booth check and supply at Relics today,
and put away some of the outdoor Christmas decor
Yikes, I still have Christmas stuff to box and put away.
someone, please tell me that you still have putz houses out!!

From Me to You on New Year's Day

I'm looking forward to what the New Year will bring, and looking back on all that I have walked through this last year. You have been with me everyday, whether you realize it or not. Thank you for being there.

"In his heart a man plans his course,
but the Lord determines his steps".
Proverbs 16:9

May your New Year be filled with a multitude of blessings from above.
Sending love and gratitude for your sweet friendship,

Just a little silver and sparkle...

This is a post from last New Year's Eve that I wanted to share again. So many of you are new to blogging this year, and maybe hadn't seen it. It's one of my favorite vignettes. I had been wanting to do a cupboard with just silver and neutrals and decided to put this together the week after Christmas. Odds and ends and clock faces and silver. I enjoyed it until the Valentine's bug bit me in mid January. Love the seasons and holidays...keeps things interesting, and in somewhat of a disarray.

This is on my sideboard in the Hall kitchen, which gets changed out regularly. I like to clear things off and start fresh each month.

I wanted some New Year's Eve sparkle!

Just look at the patina on this old metal painted vanity mirrored tray.

Love this old wedding certificate.

I haven't been able to get a lot accomplished this week, I'm taking it easy on the ankle. Thanks so much for all your well wishes and kind words. I still have some Christmas decor that needs to be put away... I'm ready for a fresh start for 2012.
Thank you, each one of you, who comes by to visit. You're my inspiration, and my motivation to stay busy and focused. Non bloggers may not understand us, but we know the friendship and "community" are real. I think of you each as a blessing.

Vintage Inspiration Friday # 70 Favorite Vintage Post

Counting down the last few days of 2011 I thought we could go back over this last year and share some of our favorite "vintage" posts. If you want to share a new one that's great too. Either way, it gives us a chance to  have some fun.
The last two years I've posted my "New Year's Tree", and it still is one of my faves. The little white birdies and clockfaces hanging from bare branches speak of "time" and the wish for peace in the New Year.

And then I'd have to say setting an Outdoor Table this last October is for me the highlight of the year, staging wise. In 2010 I did a "white" table, this year I went more Gothic and dark. It was a lot of fun, but I had crows to fend off for this one!

These were just my top 2, so how about you?

Here are some links from last week for some inspiration:

Kristen from Sophia's, gave us photos from her wonderful
Living Room transformation with a chandelier. So gorgeous!!

So many fun vintage Christmas goodies from KatyeeJane"s House

Linda from The White Weathered Hutch found some great inspiration
from one of THE most talented bloggers out there,
Debbie from Confessions of a Plate Addict.

Linda's take

with one of her staff members, Baby Kitty. both adorable!
(I want one of my girls and Baby Kitty to get married
so Debbie and I can be related)!

Lynn from Shabby Story paints a mantle and transforms
it in to a wonderful headboard decorated for Christmas

Rene from Miss Gracie's House shares her farmhouse parlor,
just a Christmas dream!

Julia from Vintage with Laces always creates
the most lovely designs. Her lace tree is just one of many.

And Christie from Three Pixie Lane shares so many wonderful
ways to have Christmas fun.
Love this herb tray!

OK, so here's the deal, you can link one or two past posts that were your faves or most viewed from this last year, whatever you'd like, just as long as it's "vintage or vintage inspired". And please put a link in your post if it is a new one. Old ones, it doesn't matter. Hope you're having a great week. My ankle is better and I can stand some weight on it now, and hurray, I seem to be out of the drug induced fog.

Here we go, can't wait to see what you have!!
xoxo,
