On the table...

Since our younger daughter and her husband will be hosting Thanksgiving at their home this year, I haven't had to be concerned about a proper tablescape.  But I have changed out a few things on the table last week. I filled my ironstone tureen with about 10 paperwhite bulbs and sat it and my white velvet pumpkin  on my dark harvest-y vintage tray.

The Dining Room has beautiful soft light most of the day.

I took out the "orange" leaves in the windowbox centerpiece
and in their place added some faux evergreens.

adding a little "Winter" and removing a little "Fall"

But a bigger change came on the table by swapping out the dark grain sack fabric for this lighter creamy burlap fabric, which I just folded over once lengthwise and left the edges raw. I like the lighter burlap for this week which will soon be changed out for Christmas. I found a wonderful antique grain sack with a red stripe on Etsy from Austria. I'm planning on adding it over the burlap for my Christmas Season tablerunner. I'll share that with you soon, and the Etsy shop I purchased it from.

A set of my lambies approve.

Vintage Inspiration #114 Almost Thanksgiving

Hi Everyone,
There's more inspiration over here at Vintage Inspiration than a stack of magazines! I know you all are getting ready for that special day and table. Preparing lists and shopping and cleaning, but just in case you don't have your tablescape thought out completely, I want to share one that's perfect for your vintage inspired table.

Jennifer from Town and Country Living
outdoes herself with this wonderful vintage
Letting her memories of past Thanksgivings guide her,
she uses family pieces to make this a very special Holiday table.

Her lovely china and crystal are balanced just perfectly with the vintage oak drawer, layered with burlap and pumpkins. So easy and just the right touch!

Jennifer has lot's of wonderful photos to inspire you,
hope you'll run by for a visit.

just playing...

I have a hundred other things to do this afternoon, but I had to go play over at PicMonkey for a few minutes. These are just a few photos from the last two years at this time in October. Have I told you it's my favorite time of the year? thought so...

Hope you're having a great Sunday afternoon. Cloudy and warm and humid, but oh gosh, the trees are gorgeous!

4th of July Outdoors Tablescape

I'm not a "Tablescaper" by any stretch of the imagination,
but I do like to put together a fun and festive holiday display.

I have "bits and pieces" of transferware, not complete sets, so I grabbed what I had of the blue/red and mixed them up with some standard white vintage plates, to put together a little outdoors soiree.

Whitewashed flower pots with old seed packets hold the silverware

While one of my heavy duty Homer Laughlin pitchers
holds some daisies and flags

I layered old tablecloths and vintage linens for an extra "picnic-y" feel.

croquet anyone?

Hope you have a fun 4th of July!
We'll be celebrating our younger daughter and her husband's birthdays
with some pool party craziness.

Windowbox Centerpiece

I've been slowly cleaning out the stashes of "stuff" that I've had piled in my garage for the last couple of years. Each week I'll take a few things over to Relics to add to my booth space. But even though I've looked at this particular item each week, I just haven't been able to load it in the car and let it go.

I've been wanting to do something different with the table top in the Dining Room for a while now, but just didn't know what that would be. I love my large French Wire basket, but was wanting something summery and chippy white...hmmmmm...
I knew just what to try.

This is an old handmade window box that I found quite a few years ago,
haven't used it, but couldn't let it go.
Anyone else out there with this same dysfunction?

It's kinda clunky and big, but for now I needed a change.
This helps bring a little "cottage-y" feel to this space.
(as I'm looking at this I see I need to invest in some new faux ivy)

Love the scalloped bottom.

This is the "backside", but still charming and chippy!

A nosy little someone, has to come and inspect anything new or different.

She will pose for the camera, but won't look me in the eye.
That way if I tell her to get down, she can pretend she didn't hear me.

...sorta like a kid...

If you haven't checked out Monday Marketplace,
just scroll down to the next post, I am keeping it open all week.
