Sunporch switcheroo...

or...
I can't make up my mind.
but more on that momentarily.

First I want to show you a sweet pillow that my talented and creative friend Judy Clark sent me awhile back. Judy's blog is 20 North Ora and she has an Etsy Shop by the same name. I featured Judy's wonderful Mother's Day Memory Pillows yesterday at The Marketplace. If you haven't seen them you'll want to grab one for your mom or yourself. Each season I tuck in something that reflects the mood or holiday of the season. This month that cute little pocket is filled with vintage French seed labels, and sitting out here in the sunporch.

Don't tell anyone,
but I take out my frustrations on my sunporch decor.

That may sound a little weird, but when I need a change or to freshen things up, this is where I usually head. I've been fantasizing thinking of new sofas for the living room, but that's not a reality at this moment, so it's much easier and less expensive to come out here and change up the quilts.

The sunporch is my playroom.

My homemade vintage seed boxes are here on the baker's rack..

along with my only two pieces of Bluebird China;
Little cups sans saucers.

I found this little oval birdie tin a few years ago,
I think it might be a "See's Candy" promo candy tin.

one side...

then the other.

The weather has been so strange;
80's and sunny one day and snowing the next.
I think we have missed most of Spring and will now head right in to Summer.

I tried a few other quilts on the wicker settee,
but they didn't stay long.
too much red for May...
maybe later in the season.

Love this Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt from my m-i-l,
but I needed sunglasses.

but in the end they were too bright and summery for now.
so I opted for a feedsack quilt and my "go to" floral and ticking pillows.

There is a floral on the other side of this little quilted throw,
but I changed it our for the little geometric stripe instead.

My three little glass and iron nesting tables,
and my chalkware French Girl lamp.

I always have some Ivy "taking root" in this little English Cottage Teapot.

And this is the coffeetable as it looks this morning with the picnic tin and old tools...

OK, I'm feeling better...
do you have a spot that you wear out changing up?
therapy session now in progress...

A good hare day on the sunporch...

I don't want to talk about what's outside at the moment, except to say there's nothing Spring-y about it. These last few days have been gray and snowy and altogether yucky. I bought some tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths last week that I was wanting to get planted, but forget it...they will have to wait until the snow goes away. So I'm choosing to boost my Springtime thoughts with what's going on out here on the sunporch.

Yep, it's definitely Spring on the Sunporch!

Decorating out here always starts with different seasonal quilts.
Changing them out gets me in the mood for whatever the season may be.

Then layering on the pillows, and bringing out the fun vintage goodies...

I'm not really a "blue" person,
but this wonderful floral quilt has me almost there.

It was from my mother-in-law's stash
that I think was from her mom back in the 40's.

I have the tail end of the paperwhites in that little USA yellow planter
and I've been browsing through my vintage Better Homes and Garden binder.

I can always count on it looking warm and Spring-like out here,
even if the outside temps don't agree.

This is another favorite quilt of mine in the Tumbling Block pattern.

My white paper mache buns is sitting
on the little green chair from when I was a baby.

We won't talk about how old that rickety little chair actually is...

Vintage pink rabbit planter, birdie tin, and seed packets...

Hey, an old chalkware chicken is even roosting out here.

One more chance for snow this evening,
and then I hope we're done!

Just a housekeeping note...
I've just added the Bloglovin' follow option to my sidebar. If you haven't tried it yet, let me say it's my new favorite. It's so super easy and you can import all your favorite blogs that you follow from Google Reader at one click, not individually. I've actually been using it this week, and it's better than the old method. So if you're a follower, I'd love you to click and follow me there. You can get set up in half a minute!

Seeing red...

I have a little case of Spring Fever. Last week when it was gray and gloomy my wheels started turning about doing something to change up the downstairs sitting area.  And when I say "most of my attention" that means the sofa. Yes, the sofa that's had a slipcover on it for the last almost three years.  It was boring me, and it looked a little "sloppy".  This is one of those areas I'm just never happy with, but it's not a place I want to put the big buck$ into.

Enter 2 wonderful linen toile thrifted pillows...
yes, with fringe and real feathers.

I know there are several of you that have these, and you know how fabulous they are. I could not pass them by at $25 dollars a piece. I actually had to go back the next day, the whole time crossing my fingers and saying a selfish prayer that they would still be there. Yes, I can be selfish and self absorbed at times. ( I know, totally hard to believe...)

I passed them by the first time, because I didn't know what I would do with them...where to put them...because they're BIG. B.I.G. Back to the sofa... so a few years ago I bought the off-white slipcover for this monster red fruit and floral couch. I loved this sofa when I bought it 10 years ago, but as you can see...it's RED. R.E.D. and my "red" days were numbered. I broke my cardinal rule in decor. Only buy neutral big ticket items. Save the flowers and color and prints and busy-ness for the accessories. I broke my own rule, because I thought I was in love, and that I would be... for eternity. I think in 10 years it's been sat on a sum total of maybe 25 times and is in pristine condition.

OK, so maybe I was secretly wanting to try out having just a teensy bit of red back. maybe... just a teensy bit. I know that sounds silly to some of you, but when you've spent the last three years going "whites" and "neutrals" then it can be a little intimidating (and bright).

So out came a vintage quilt that has a fun little plaid on the back.
OK, that helped tone down the red.

better...

So, I'm kinda, sorta, getting used to the little bit of red again.
 maybe...

coming up...the Holiday Cupboard for Easter.
Thank goodness it's much easier,
and less expensive to change than sofas.

Fall on the Sunporch

Just a few overdue pics from the sunporch for Fall...

Making use of the bittersweet and some deer antlers.

These next few are some of my fave pics from this season.
Just look at the face of complete innocence...

now wait a minute, girlie!

Here's the other one.

I always have fun mixing and matching the quilts and pillows for a new look each year.

If you'd like to see what I did last year,
then here are some pics from last year's porch.

Being away from home for almost a week, I feel like I'm trying to play catch up. There are so many things I wanted to do this Fall, but taking care of my sweetie has been my top priority. We saw a specialist in St. Louis last week for his inner ear, vertigo, and hearing loss. This doctor told us more in 5 minutes than we had been given in months and months of doctors visits and therapy. Hubbs is on a medication regimen at the moment, but we have options for down the road...much more hope and confidence for recovery than we were having before. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the photos from this week on the sunporch. Ahhhh....my favorite season for decorating out here.

If you didn't make it by earlier in the week, come check out all the great shopping links at the Marketplace; just scroll down to the last post. It's live all week, so feel free to link up any of your Etsy or Boutique Items.
