I have a good excuse...

My house is a wreck,
there are still turkeys running around,
the laundry is piled high.,
not one Christmas box or tub has been opened...

"What?"
you might be asking.
Moi, who has been chomping at the bit
to get started with the Christmas decorating...?

Well, let's say the Christmas decor train
got rerouted to Home Depot last Saturday
and the result is something that
I just couldn't put off...

Plus I had the help of my handsome hubby
who was repaying me for days away for deer hunting.
Sometimes payback can be...
a good thing!

I've been terribly whiny
about wanting to paint my kitchen cabinets
and lighten things up with a new wall color,
so I had to make a decision,
decorate for Christmas...
or have a whole new look for the kitchen.
I guess you can tell what won out!
I still have a ways to go.
So hopefully soon I'll have it "blog worthy"!

Just a few pics to show you I'm still alive,
and then I want to apologize for being a lousy blogger friend.
I'm too far behind to ever catch up
so please know that I love you all,
appreciate your joining in for

Vintage Inspiration Friday,

and always leaving such wonderful comments.
I'm not ignoring you all
but I know the world doesn't stop
just because I can't come and visit all you great peeps.

Now, having said that with a humble attitude,
I'm closing in on that 1000 follower mark
and I'm not going to let it go unnoticed,
so hopefully,
when I can get myself and my house together...
and take care of the personal hygiene,
I'll put together a Give Away to celebrate!!
Also, remember that this week starts the

Please grab the button and plan to join in with the vintage fun!

Today, I'm linking up with Kathleen for White Wednesday

Wicker Wonderland

Over the summer we redid a couple of our lower level family room areas.
We exchanged the office area of my husband's
and a sitting area where I have my white wicker.

I debated whether or not to show this right now,
because...well...it's really not where I want it to be.

White wicker has always been  a compulsion of mine
and a point of contention between my husband and I.
I can't resist it...
He doesn't like having to fall over it in the garage.

I've had these white wicker pieces for several years
and I have had a few other pieces that were...
yes... gathering dust in the garage.

So when we rearranged the basement
I found that my hoarding instinct had been right after all.

A few other pieces were right for the re-do.
My gallon of off white Behr paint
made some magic with a library/dining table
and a round repurposed pedestal table turned coffee table.

I haven't finished some feed sack pillows that I have been trying to put together,
and the wall behind the sofa looks sort of bare.
I want to add an architectural piece, a mirror...something,
just not sure yet.

We've really enjoyed having this area,
we seem to gravitate there for coffee and conversation.

I found this great grain sack table runner from Lidy at Frenchgarden House.

And check out this miniature wheelbarrow that's holding
pumpkins and squash,
and some tiny gardening tools.

So this may be seeing some more change
as the weather gets cooler and I have time for a few more projects.
And I've learned something in all this...
use it or lose it!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

love y'all,

Fall Comes to the "Creek"

It's Here!
Fall has arrived at my Spring Creek booth space.

Now if you don't count the temperature outside,
or the fact that it still says August on the calendar,
you wouldn't know the difference.

I grabbed my man with the muscle
(that would be the two-wheel dolly)
and we headed to Ozark to make the transformation.

While we were there several other dealers were putting
their own touch of fall on the place.

OK, I've said it a million times before,
and I will a million times more
but...
I just LOVE FALL!

I have renewed energy
and that feeling of wanting to cozy up the nest takes over.

I love the earth colors and subtle tones,
but I also love a big blast of
 ORANGE!

Nature inspired dishes, furnishings, and accessories
are all scattered around the space.

As you can see, I don't take myself too serious,
I can't resist an owl.

Vintage Postcard Prints and Magazine Cover Prints
are a staple in my space.

While I was setting up, a well-dressed retired couple came by.
The lady was really interested in my vintage window with the bird prints.
She bent down and examined it with a thoughtful, loving, and appreciative eye.

She got her husband's attention
and of course he had to comment on the fact
that he could " make something just like that"
( how many of us have heard that remark before?)
... with some photographs of birds that he had.

She shook her head in dismay,
and informed him that it just wouldn't be the same.

I hope she comes back for it without the hubby.

And since I don't want a "nekkid" dress form,
I'll be having a few pieces of my jewelry there also.

The Tea Room and store look especially fun this time of year.
There are a lot of great dealers with a wonderful mix of merchandise.

Hope you can make it by.

You White Up My Life

Sorry, that's been rummaging around in my brain
and I just had to say it.

Anything look different?

I'm almost afraid to admit it.
Yes, I have a gallon of white paint and I'm not afraid to use it...

I won't show the before picture
(ok, just a teensy tiny one, so you can't see
how fabulous it is, er...was.)

because I'm afraid some of you might come after me
and kick my fanny.

You know how it is when you have something that's totally gorgeous,
that you absolutely LOVE and adore,
but it's not quite right?

Something that you think about,
consider,
weigh the consequences,
(will it be a huge mistake and will I want it back like before?)
and obsess over?

OK,
maybe you're not ocd...
but I think you can relate.

Anyhoo, I just couldn't get past the idea that this wonderful
piece of furniture didn't match not one other thing in my house.

So out came the white paint and the brush and roller.
Now I can relax...
it's white.

and so as not to waste white paint,
I slapped some on a few other unfortunates around the house.

This print had a "terra cotta" colored frame

well, I guess because it IS terra cotta,
but what were they thinking?...
it didn't match at all.

and these old chalk french children had been gold.
You know what that means...

yup, nothing is safe around here.

and here's a completed project
that didn't require paint,
just some muscle.

We finally got the Dining Room chairs covered.
10, count 'em.
Thank goodness my husband is a helping hand!

I still have more chair slips to make
but that can wait for awhile.

Now, I'm just warning you;
Fall will be visiting here soon.
It's my favorite time of the year,
so at the end of August
(blah)
summer gets booted out!
