A visit to Sandstone

Phone pics...I have a love/hate relationship with them. On one hand, I'm thrilled to have a way to capture images in my favorite shops spur of the moment, but on the other, mine are less than desirable straight off the photo roll. I took these images a couple of weeks ago when we were in Joplin. I'd never been to Sandstone Gardens, and it was a beautiful experience. The garden/green houses on each side of the main retail area were enough to make me want to come back. Oh, and the restaurant provided a wonderful lunch in French Country ambiance.

This is an imposing place, but take your time, there's lot's to see. They originally started manufacturing garden statuary as you can see from these greenhouse pics, then created the "store" for more "market retail". Honestly, I could have spent the whole afternoon there, but Hubbs was with me, and I didn't want to put him through it.

I snapped this for the  built up paint finish.
I have some 80's brass lamps that I may want to experiment on.

There's so much to see, you can hardly take it all in.

more green house fountains and lush plants

You can check out the link at the top for more information and directions.

I took these next few photos back in the early Spring, but since I'm not tech savvy, I was having an issue of getting them from my phone to my computer. Harrison House is a wonderful store among so many great shopping spots in Ozark, just south of Springfield.

The watering cans hanging from the ceiling are so fun.

Last weekend we ran by Inspirational Home in Springfield, one of my favorite places, to check out what's been going on. There are always lot's of plants like Ivy and angel vine available in topiaries and fun containers. The building used to be an old service station back in the 20's-40's. I had a flea market rent space here back before I started blogging. Located in Galloway, it's a charming building and area.

Hard to tell,
but this is an old claw foot tub filled with shade loving plants,
and a blush pink vintage bike.

An old lamp and shade skeleton,
that when filled out, will be a wonderful topiary.

Lot's of vintage chippy furniture and accessories.

I LOVE the size of that great galvanized tub!

And this adorable cupboard covered in vintage wallpaper
with a hammock topped in crocheted lace.

What you missed in quality photos,
I hope you gained in inspiration!

Was just through Springfield this last week but did not get a chance to go to the Gardens ( we were trying to miss the rain) but it looks wonderful as usual! And Inspiration Home was a favorite also! If you get a chance, go to Sandstone Gardens during the holidays--it is beautiful! The fall season is awesome too! Loved todays post!!

  7. Looks like a great place to visit! So much architectural inspiration at the Sandstone Gardens. I loved the shop you went into though the best. It would be hard to not buy something there! I've seen those flower market tall metal containers at a local shop near me too.
