Feathered Friends Party
I just found out about this great little get-together of Bird Lovers, so I wanted to join the party.
I'm doing two posts today, one for this with the Shabby Chic Cottage, and my regular party with White Wednesday. So I grabbed a few images of bird cages, nests and birds...last minute I'm afraid, but I didn't want to miss the party.

What I Rescued this Weekend, Monday
I found this desk/library table this weekend, and had to have it. Can you see the potential? All my husband did was look at me with the "you've got to be kidding" look on his face. He knows I sometimes get in over-my-head with a project. And the garage is filling back up, so my space is limited to work on things.
It has great lines and detail...and oh, baby, those legs...but sadly it had been setting in someone's workshop, so the finish is absolutely horrific. Globs of paint were splattered on the top, it had a mud dobber's nest underneath, a board was loose on top, and the drawer was missing...but I had to have it!
So home it came.
Secretly my husband didn't think it would fit in the back of my little CRV, but surprise, it miraculously shrank to fit! TeHe!!
I sanded and scrubbed, we put in some brackets to level out the top,
wood glue and wood putty, so we'll see what happens. A white distressed finish of course.
This may be a keeper.
So sad, I know. Years of neglect and ground in filth.
Here are a few other items from our escapades this weekend. A cutglass lamp and some frenchy wall plaques, a toffee tin with dog graphic, frenchy hand mirror, gravy boat, silver candlesticks, and a great etched mirror with a green metal rim.
A little 60's shabbiness can work if you don't overdose on it!
And this is my favorite find of the day, a metal crucifix. It definitely will stay with me.
Hope you had a good weekend, full of fun junk finds.

A "Little Light" on the Subject
There were two chandeliers, one in the entry and one in the dining room that we replaced, as things needed to be updated. I had the small one in mind for the kitchen, but I have a canned spot over the sink that provides much needed task lighting. Finally I nudged my husband enough that he hung it in front of the spot on a plant hook, and I have hidden the cord behind the curtain. Now, I use it when I'm in the mood for "pretty", and I still have my overhead for daily use.

3 Blind Mice
We started with 1 mouse, but it would get lost or batted under the furniture at night which would cause 2 spoiled cats to meow loudly for 1 crazy woman to get up out of bed and retreive the 1 stuffed catnip mouse. After many disturbed nights' sleep the 1 crazy woman went to the store and found 1 more stuffed catnip mouse to satifsfy her 2 spoiled cats. But now 2 stuffed catnip mice would be lost under the furniture and the howling only intensified of the 2 spoiled cats. Now, instead of just crying for the 2 stuffed catnip mice the 2 spoiled cats were digging and pounding on the furniture at night causing not only the 1 crazy woman, but now her husband, who actually works for a living, to lose sleep also. So the 1 crazy woman went back to the store to find yet another stuffed catnip mouse to add to the mayhem.
Guess what, now the mystique has vanished and the 3 stuffed catnip mice are no longer the objects of great desire, so they are left to play happily amongst the chippy white wicker and be lost for days at a time under the bedroom dresser.
