Burlap and Brown Transferware

two of my favorite things...

Hi Everyone, Happy Sunday!
It really IS a happy Sunday, as I'm back home from the hospital and want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who left comments on my last post. Blogger wasn't updating some blogs last week, (I was just one of many) so I hope this one will show up on your readers, email, and blog lists.

I'll give you some photos of my latest Late Fall Vignette where I wanted to say a BIG Thank You to Sherry of No Minimalist Here who hosted a wonderful Give Away this Fall for a generous gift certificate to Antiques Lifestyle. I used my gift certificate to pick out this beautiful Hand Stenciled Burlap Tablerunner. You can find more like it at Laurie's beautiful Etsy Shop. Thank you so much Laurie and Sherry!

My Dining Room table is currently "under construction"
for my Thanksgiving Tablescape, which I'll be sharing with you this week.
So one of my Bergere Chairs in the Living Room had to make do.

Isn't that design amazing?!

I can't wait to get it on my table!

So, back to the Late Fall Vignette in the lower level sitting area
next to my French Doors, which let in the afternoon sunlight.

This was last Tuesday, you should see the amount of leaves out there now.

I gathered some of my Brown Transferware; platters, plates, sugars and creamers together to decide what I wanted to use for the Tablescape.

Just random bits and pieces of patterns...

I've been building my Tablescape Centerpiece with just naturals,
and here are some dried pods I was using.

I found the olive bucket on Decor Steals earlier this Fall.
It definitely was less expensive than any where else I had seen.

I was in the hospital Tuesday until Saturday night, and had lot's of tests run to see if we could understand where the blood clots are coming from and if there were any permanent problems from them. I've tried several blood thinning drugs, and we now feel like we have things under control. God has been gracious to me, as any one of them that was moving around in there could have caused a stroke, but it didn't happen. I may be going a little slower in blogging until I can get my self back, but the weekly parties won't change. Be sure and come by tomorrow morning, and throughout the week for The Marketplace.

You all are loved and appreciated,
thank you for the prayers and caring thoughts,
and thank you for being such good friends.

Looking back, toward Thanksgiving

Boy, am I thankful for that extra hour today...I've been trying to play catch-up since getting back from St. Louis, and I'm behind on almost everything. So today I thought I'd just share a few pics from year's past Thanksgivings. It's such a short season, that sometimes I don't get a lot of photos of how things transition from Halloween to Thanksgiving, and then on into Christmas.

Planting Paperwhites, which is a tradition I've had for the last 8 years or so.

(remember, you can click on the image for it to become much bigger)

Setting up a small tree in the Dining Room right after Halloween, which then became known as my Autumn Tree. Filled with woodland creatures, owls and berries, I think I love it as much as a Christmas Tree.

My urn on the Living Room table went from Pumpkin
to multicolored dried Hydrangeas and preserved leaves.

A shot of my Hall Sideboard for Thanksgiving
and a few of the Entry and another small tree in the Living Room.

And last year's Dining Room table with some paperwhites
in an ironstone tureen on simple white burlap.

I've mentioned before how this blog has really been a virtual diary of my seasonal decor.  I'm working on a vintage Thanksgiving tablescape that has been really fun putting together. I love the colors of this Thanksgiving Season... bringing in the jeweled tones of Autumn, with just a hint of Christmas to come.

Hope you're having a wonderful Sunday.
I'll see you tomorrow for

just thinking outloud...

I've realized after 3 and a 1/2 years of blogging, that this little niche on the www has become somewhat of a pictoral  diary of my decorating style. What I loved 10 years ago, I'm not so crazy about any more, or even 5 years ago; how my ideas and concepts have evolved. What started out as a home with lots of extra space has become a little crowded, but filled with things I love and enjoy, and that hopefully reflect who I am.

I love "pretty", but I also love comfort, functionality, and simplicity. I love a good "trend" but you won't find me being a slave to it. I'm a mesh of a lot of decor styles, but "vintage" will always be the fundamental and basic premise of my style. I find myself, with each new season or holiday coming up, going back through my archives of posts to see what I did last year, or the year before. Let's change it up a little, I don't want to get into a rut. Some things are basically the same, but just tweaked a little. Other things are retired and sent the way of the antique mall space, but each loved and enjoyed for the time that it's part of my world.

I guess I'm going over all this to say that sometimes, I just like to have a place to peek back at, and then form a new plan for what's ahead. One of my favorite things to do is to go back through your blog archives and see what you all did last year. We really are an everchanging, growing, and inspirational bunch!

(my new plaid wool throw from Leola's,
which brings in a little "Christmas Color")

Each season on the sunporch I start with a different quilt.
Then layer on the pillows.
It's my place to have some fun.

I told you I had a couple more turkeys up my sleeve...

Now that it's cold outside,
I enjoy the visual warmth of the Fall inspired woolens.
The kitties love their snuggle spots out here.
almost like being outdoors.

I'm pretty sure I enjoy this space more than any other in my home.

A lot of wind and a hard freeze a few nights ago,
took down most of the maple leaves.
Love the golden hue this casts.

In a week it will be time to put away "Fall" and Thanksgiving,
then bring out "Christmas".
Time to turn another page in the book.

I don't want this blog to ever be thought of
as a place that is "show-offy".

I hope when you come to visit
it's like coming by for a cup of tea
and a warm muffin...
put up your feet,
and tell me about your day.

Hope you're savoring the moment.
Enjoy life and the small pleasures.
thanks for always being here.
...for being a friend.
Thank you for being part of my life.
