Bring on the Green in the Holiday Cupboard

March always sees the green transferware show up in the Holiday Cupboard, since St. Patrick's Day is my unofficial start to (early) Spring. And it's my birthday month too, so I make it a fresh start after a long cold and dreary winter. When I first started collecting green transferware I thought I'd be limited in displaying them. But now they come out in late February and stick around through Spring and early Summer until July 4th decorating.

Other than vintage and antique postcards I really don't have any vintage St. Paddy's decor. So like other holidays and seasons, I gather all the color of that particular theme; which this time would be "green". Oh, and anything that might be possibly in a stretch be considered "Irish".

If I've shared this antique "chocolate pot" before, it would have been many, many years ago. But since it's green and vintage it's making an appearance this month. It's a handpainted Noritake Nippon set My mom gave to me when she downsized about 15 years ago. She is an amazing decorator, and used celadon and lovely soft shades of greens and gold in her more formal decor at her home.

I've shared this Toby Jug a few years ago here in the cupboard. It's a newer item reproduction of an old traditional type of pottery genre made popular in Great Britain starting in the late 1700's. Not particularly a handsome subject, but a fun piece.

I'm using my Ivy Cottage pottery along with bits and pieces of green transferware this month. "Cottage" pottery teapots and creamers from Japan in the 50's, depression glass sugar and creamer, and a few pieces of ironstone mix it up.

Isn't this little postcard adorable with the shamrocks?

I'd love to have some Shamrock themed pottery or china, but just don't see those in flea markets often. I know you can buy on Amazon for a pretty penny. I may save for a Shamrock teapot.

A moss covered wooden Shamrock accented with a springy ribbon and hanging lamby decorate the closed door. A little welcome and enticement to come peek inside.

How's your weather? Are you in the already Spring camp,
or in the more sleet and snow group?
Rain and snow here today and tomorrow...
