Decorating the Sideboard for Christmas

This week I've been sharing Christmas in the Hearth Room, so next I wanted to show you the rest of the room and the antique sideboard. I've always loved the little curved shelf above the mirror, but this is my first time actually decorating it for the Christmas Holiday. A few little British crocks, some white reindeer, and bottle brush trees keep it light, bright and lots of fun.

The ironstone tureen is filled with vintage ornaments and Shiny Brites in silver and gold. I used to use these on my white tree, but since a tree just didn't happen this year I'm doing the next best thing and piling them in ironstone.

Hard to get a good shot here...

I found the taller wire trees at Hobby Lobby this year. I've only been once this season, so my new Christmas decor has been limited. That's OK, I've had plenty of things to sort thru, but I have one box I cannot find with my Santa and gingerbread man. They've escaped. I'm sure I'll find them in July.

Don't you love that cute reindeer "kisser"?

This is a long wall and the Cookbook Nook and Cupboard is just to the right of this. The old picket fence gate was in the Kitchen Sitting area at the last house. It always had something hanging off it before, now it's a backdrop for the baskets that got a white wash earlier this year.

Here are more pics of the Hearth Room dressed casually for Christmas. I didn't do anything fancy  (or very creative) this year. I've kept it simple and cozy. There's a lot of furniture in this space but to me it's just more comfy and relaxed.

TV is in the armoire.

If you missed my last post about the Fireplace and Mantel you can check that out here:
Christmas Mantel in the Hearth Room.

We're about done with this phase of the landscape work. I still have some replanting to do, but we'll get that done in the Spring. Things are looking much cleaner, newer, and more pulled together. I told my hubby that I wouldn't be embarrassed to have people over now. Before, there was a very high cringe factor. It was downright horrible. I found myself apologizing to anyone and everyone that came to the front door. I'll take some pics when the weather is better.

Hope you have a great weekend,
we're expecting a little snow and "wintry mix".

see you Monday evening for

  1. Loving all your treasures on this cabinet. I too have an affection for bottle brush trees. My bookcase is dressed with many.

Love your pots too. I recently purchased a well loved one, my favorite kind.

    1. thanks Cindy, I'd really like to add to this collection, can't get too many of these little pots! Hope you're having a great Christmas season.

  2. Such a pretty piece. Love the reindeer and trees, so pretty together. Your home looks so beautiful and so pretty and the holidays.

  3. Hi Debra,
I love to see your armoire. I just swoon over that piece. Guess what if I owned that beautiful piece I would not paint it white lol!!!! It is so gorgeous just the way it is. You know me and painting everything white lol! Love your whites, creams and golds for this vignette. All your vintage pieces are so pretty. Love it all.

    1. Hi Kris, I feel the same way with that armoire. The wood is just gorgeous, and since the rest of the room is white/off white, I felt like it would be a great focal piece. Hope you're having a great weekend! Big hug for Christmas!

  4. Debra -
Your sideboard is a winter masterpiece! I love the tureen full of ornaments. Those little deer are so sweet too! At first I thought they were lambs knowing how much you love sheep but then I saw - no - reindeer. The whole room is so perfect for the holiday.

    1. ooooh lambs, those would be so cute! these are some kind of woven material, not sure what but I wish they could stay out all year. thanks Nita, hope you're having a great weekend!

  5. Everything looks so good, Debra.

I so enjoy seeing what you do with each season - you are so clever and unique.

Hope you're having a fabulous weekend!!!

  6. I love your sideboard and the British pots. The pots are hard to find in my area and also expensive. Check out this post and see the stamps she found.
    Merry Christmas

  7. OH this is pretty, Debra! Love the sheep and your wonderful jars display! I can't find half my stuff this year either...and I labeled everything lol.

  8. Love this collection and overall look, Debra. I still have yet to unpack all my English crocks and whisk broom collection I had in my laundry room. It's still in storage! Maybe after Christmas.....

  9. Debra,
Love the cozy look within your Christmas decor this year!
It is never easy when one makes a move and begins holiday decorating.
    You have done marvelously!
    Truly inspirational!

  10. I've always love your the way you display your beautiful collections and this Christmas scene with the brush trees, cute deer and shiny ornaments is so pretty!

  11. That armoire is just stunning. I love all your plaid. It's gorgeous.

  12. It looks wonderful! I love the marmalade jars with bottle brush trees.

Just so you know I am copying your painted basket soon as I round up some baskets on my junking adventures! I have loved them since you first shared them. They look especially beautiful for Christmas and winter I think with the chippy fence behind it.

You have done amazing things in just a year and you have truly created a festive and cozy Christmas home!

  13. Debra I absolutely love this warm and cozy winter white room! That sideboard is a dream come true for me. I don't have any vintage marmalade crocks but now have a way to DIY some faux ones of my own -- can't wait. Your armoire is gorgeous. We had out TV in an armoire for years, until we finally broke down and got one of those really big flat screens. Now we have to look at it all the time and it bums me out, missing that old armoire! Hope you have a wonderful New Year, and thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. Pinned! xo Kathleen
