Pumpkin Roundup in the Dining Room

Hi Everyone, I hope you're having a wonderful week. We've had a taste of Fall here in Southwest Missouri these last few days with the trees getting more vibrant, a day of gray skies and soaking rain, and some much cooler temps. (High of 63). We'll hit 80 again, but it was sure nice for a change.

I mentioned last week how I had rounded up what was left of the faux orange pumpkins so I could bring them into the more neutral color scheme. I like using Bittersweet real and faux, and some leaf garlands in golds and oranges, but...let's just say I prefer the lighter hued pumpkins. I like seeing a little more depth and color variation, so I used a mix of chalk paint and some craft paint. I went toward the grays and greens, trying to give them some shading and color mixing of some of the real pumpkins that are out there now.

The little black wagon has been sitting on the hearth,
but I wanted to bring it over to the Dining Room table
where the light is a little better.

I've had this huge metal basket on the Dining Room table for the last year now.
It's by far my favorite centerpiece, since the table is large and the ceilings are high.
It visually fills up the open space.

I'm using a fabric piece in muted floral in Autumn colors
for a table runner this Fall.
It may change in November,
but for now it's still a light and bright look.

 Here'a a pic from last year's table.

(Looks like one deep rust teensy pumpkin escaped the brush)

Here's my last batch of painted pumpkins.
If you leave them without a top coat of sealant they can look sort of dull and matte,
so I finished them off with a coat of Satin Craft Paint, waterbased Varnish. (Ceramcoat)
It leaves a nice luster, without being shiney and fake looking.

Hydrangeas and Pumpkins are my favorite floral mix for Fall.
Actually, Hydrangeas are my "go-to" flower no matter the Season.
