Lovely Lemony Decor

Hi friends! After any holiday is over, I'm always ready to change up the decorating vibe around the house; with the color scheme tending to be the first thing I want to reset. I've been decorating with patriotic color since the start of June with red/white/blue items and vignettes, so now I'm ready for a more midsummer look.

I've seen some fun arrangements that combine early summer flowers like these "mini" daisies and lemons, so when I ran across a few faux florals and some faux small lemons I knew I needed to put them together for mid July. They were a perfect fit for the vintage wicker basket. I also have a few pieces of vintage pottery flower pots that are USA, McCoy and Hull, so I wanted to include them along the ledge of the mirror.

One of my favorite color groupings for summer is yellow and black and white. I love a black/white check, stripe, or plaid as an accent for anything yellow or gold. I found a small bit of wired ribbon to use on the handle of this very old wicker floral basket.

The family sideboard in the hearth room is a great spot to put together a larger floral piece. The wonderful "God Bless Our Home" framed graphic compliments the black/white ribbon. I found this old print about 15 years ago at a vintage market sale. The original glass had a crack in the corner so I grabbed it up for just a few dollars. It was an easy fix with a new piece of glass.

I'm always in the mood for some vintage garden goodness,
so a few pieces are used alongside the basket.

I only have 2 pieces of this pattern of USA Pottery; the gravy boat and the sugar bowl, and I think it may be Yellow Cornflower or something like that.  I researched it on Google, but didn't come up with much. I'll be on the lookout in the future for any other pieces. To me it looks like a lot like "late summer". Let me know if you have any info on this pattern, please.

Other than filling a bowl with fresh lemons I honestly don't think I've ever put together a tablescape or vignette using lemons. After July 4th I usually bring out the coneflowers and sunflower arrangements and decor. I think the mini lemons and daisies work perfectly together. Fresh and summery.

  3. Aww, your lemon decor is adorable and those other examples make me want to get out my black and white table runner and lemon goodies too! All so pretty. Hope you're having a wonderful week.

  4. Oh, I LOVE everything about this! I changed my yard flag on the 5th, and am nearly ready to change my wreath too. I really love the fresh look of yellow and white together and, of course, the black is the perfect accent. That open lantern with peat pots and seed packets beside it made my little heart skip a beat. That's adorable! I need to do something like that on my storage rack I have beside my sink in the garage. Right now mine's a mish mash of seed packets, peat pots and other miscellany garden things, all sitting in a corrugated packing box of sorts. Yours is much more photogenic, lol!

  7. I love the lemons for late summer Debra. I have been wanting to create a lemon arrangement, but have not come across the lemon stems yet. Love the way everything came together, and love the USA pottery too.
