Wake Up Call!

I had a shocker of a thought yesterday... and that was that Thanksgiving was ACTUALLY next week, and that  our "big kids" from St. Louis would be here. I was living in some sort of alternate universe where I was taking my sweet time about things and all the sudden I had a panic about getting the guest /dump room cleaned up for them. Do you have a room that stuff "lands in" when you don't have time or motivation to deal with things? Hope I'm not alone.

Anywahoos, I still had some things to share that are sort of woods-y/thanksgiving-y, from the basement sitting area, otherwise known as my Holiday Cupboard. I love each holiday and don't want to slight all my fun Thanksgiving decor. Besides, I laughed over a post last week where it was discussed that slighted turkeys might come after us for revenge...can't let that happen.

So for the next few days, even though we all are thinking Christmas,
you're stuck seeing some Thanksgiving decor.
Just trying to be an equal opportunity decorator.

I've also realized that I've used this blog to document my decorating. I find myself looking back thru old posts to check what I did last year. I like to change things up, so as to not let things get stale or boring. It encourages me to try something new, and think out of the box.

OK, hope you all are making progress on your plans for next week.
See ya tomorrow with

  6. I don't even look in my bins or boxes at the Christmas stuff until the Friday after Thanksgiving. It is the best day for me to start decorating, because I do not leave the house on Black Friday at all, Debra! So, what else am I going to do? : ) I know what you mean ~ a look at the calendar this morning showed me that it is one more week until my son arrives!

And yes, I have a couple rooms where I just dumpt stuff to get it out of the way--and there it sits until something like this happens. Ugh, I don't even want to think about how fast Christmas will roll around!

  13. What is it about this year? Is it that the weather hasn't really turned? Everyone I talk to can't believe that next week is Thanksgiving. I had to actually show a friend a calendar to convince her and she's hosting!

    Love all of your treasures.

  16. Really like your Thanksgiving decor. I have that exact Turkey Platter that I adore! Never ever forget to decorate for Thanksgiving...I really despise when entire holidays are skipped...Thanksgiving is such a special holiday, giving us time to give God the thanks for all year long...Be thankful this year...you can "deck the halls" on the weekend after! 29. No Christmas here yet. First things first.
After our Thanksgiving dinner, we will put on the christmas music, decorate gingerbread houses, then I'll take out Christmas the next day! That's what the long weekend is for : )
