Summer Home Tour

Hello Everyone, Welcome to my Summer Home Tour, 2017. I'm joining Marty from A Stroll Thru Life and a talented group of bloggers who are sharing their Homes decorated for Summer. If you are coming over from Haneen's Haven, so glad that you came by today and I hope I'll be seeing you again, soon.

I love the change of Seasons and always incorporate seasonal decor into my home. Starting here in the Entry, I rotate vintage accessories on my entry console, building a theme with a seasonal vintage print. For Summer this year, I'm using an original print, this time of an English Cottage Garden filled with Sunflowers. Having a Seasonal or Holiday print along with color and florals is one of my favorite ways to decorate that you'll see throughout my home.

I've bought and sold antiques and vintage goods for most of my life, so it's a natural for me to use both in my decor. I love combining vintage accessories and furniture with new, for a unique and personal look in my home... sort of a mix of English Cottage and French Country, with a lot of casual on the side.

These two old house shutters painted a wonderful shade of gray were found at a antique shop out in the back yard. I had them in my garage for years before I finally figured out what to do with them. One day I decided I was either going to use them or sell them, and decided to try them on top of this console. They've been the backdrop for my round antique mirror since then.

An antique rolling market cart next to the door,
is always filled with some kind of seasonal florals.

My Dining Room Table is another spot that always receives a dose of Seasonal Decor. Having high ceilings gives me the chance to have a large floral arrangement and table top vignette with vintage goods. Lately I've been using a small French wagon where I can use collectibles with a vintage garden theme. This tableau is constantly changing, including using a table runner that changes multiple times a season. I do a "lazy girl's" version of a tablerunner, and that's to buy 3 yards of 50 inch fabric, then fold it down the middle, fold under then iron the selvage. Instant Tablerunner!

In my quest for neutrals about 5 years ago, I had custom chair slipcovers made for my Dining Room chairs that gave them a more European Cottage feel. I like to mix up accessories; elegant and country farmhouse, that bring a farmhouse-y casual vibe.

This Summer I'm using a grouping of antique chalkware chickens,
some vintage flower pots, and a handmade bee skep here on the little Chalk Painted wagon.

I'm using a vintage ice-cream maker wooden bucket for the Sunflower bouquet.

Here is a pic from the Spring Open House showing my sofa table with vintage luggage.

A change of sofa pillows and items on the coffee table keep things looking different each season, here in the Living Room. I'm a known pillow-aholic with a real addiction, having a dedicated under-the-stairs storage space just for quilts and pillows.

One of my recent vintage finds is this old wicker covered demi-john that was painted white. A large English Ivy in a vintage "vanilla" pottery flower pot joins it on a garden tray.

On the mantel a tool carrier filled with old mason jars and faux flowers in white
are flanked by two Pottery Barn lanterns.

TV is hiding in the Armoire that matches are bedroom furniture.

The kitchen sitting area is one of my favorite spots, and it's full of lots of fun vintage goods. It's just my husband and I most days, so I stored our larger farm table and replaced it with this smaller antique oak piece. When our kids are here we have a leaf that enables us to seat (a cozy) six.

My mix and match orphan collection of Red and Brown Transferware dishes
live here in the Kitchen China Cupboard.

Most of these pieces here in the Kitchen Sitting Area were previously in a sunporch that I had at our old house. I love having them in this little spot as it gives me a fun place to decorate for the seasons. A wicker settee and chair, a Baker's Rack, and an old door give me that same vintage garden/porch feel. Most days you will find a small tabby cat lounging here.

I'm using my collection of Majolica here on the Baker's Rack this part of the early Summer.

Thanks so much for coming by. Hope you'll come and visit again,
and if you haven't had a chance to check out the rest of the Home Tour
