Silver Sunday, Tea Anyone...?

On a lazy Sunday afternoon, anyone for tea?

I love old silver,
but much of it is out of my price range.
So what I have, are bits and pieces
I've collected from my flea market adventures.

This set was black with tarnish when I found it,

but I knew something wonderful was hidden underneath.

This is my wedding china, really French faience;
heavier and hand painted.
No two pieces are exactly alike.

Pewter tea tin...

With my favorite Scottish biscuits,
 "McVitties Digestibles".
They taste a little like graham crackers,
but more dense.

my "new" silver spoons,
and "old" butter knives.

Oh and let's not forget the Crabtree & Evelyn.

The tray isn't very heavy and it's a completely
different style from the Georgian tea set,
but I love the ornate design, vintage by Wallace.

A lot of people like their silver tarnished.
And I have certain pieces that I do,
but silver is such a gorgeous metal
I like to keep mine shined.

Hope you have a delicious day!

Valentine Ideas?

If you're like me you enjoy giving
a little Valentine gift to friends and family.
I wanted to share some Valentine images,
in hopes of generating some creative ideas.

these cute little pillows and totes
all dressed in hearts
are found at Ballard Designs.

It's been warmer here these last few days and
I've been decorating for Valentine's Day this week.
It helps brighten the dreary days of January,
and move me toward the colors of Spring.

Ballard Designs
I've been playing with a few bits of paper and vintage ephemera,
but I've had a little "itch" to get out my sewing machine

Hmmm...?

felt hearts?

Country Home

collaged bottles with posey?

Country Home

No sewing machine required.

What are you doing for Valentines gifts?

Have a sweet weekend,
Debra

White Wednesday, Small reminders...

Sometimes we look at something,
 or someone with new eyes.

I have had this little bisque figurine of praying hands
at my booth space for months.
I think it was once a night light as it is hollow
and has a place where a cord could once have been.

I always admired it,
but had one similar at home painted gold.
I never could understand why no one wanted it.
It was only a few dollars.
No one saw in it what I saw.

Last week when I made a visit, it was still there.
I had determined it would come home with me,
where it belonged.

I like to make vignettes of concepts and ideas;
Things I'm thinking about.
This last week with the tragedy in Haiti,
I have been reminded about the importance of prayer.

That God is a "light unto our path",
and that our hands can work
and also pray.

So today we pray not only for the people of Haiti,
but for our neighbors next door...
our friends
 and families...

And for all those we do not know.

May God's peace and presence surround you...

...and may we be aware of all the
little reminders there are in our life,
that we can help others who are in need.

Please visit Kathleen at Faded Charm.

Have a blessed White Wednesday.
love,
Debra
