A Winter's Walk in the Holiday Cupboard

Hello friends, since Valentine's Day will be here in a few weeks, I knew I needed to share my January edition of the Holiday Cupboard. January has been cold and often dreary here, but I'm trying to be present and look for the good to enjoy each season... including winter. One of the fun ways I celebrate each month and season is to refresh my old pie safe, aka "The Holiday Cupboard".

Vintage Ironstone and transferware are always the base of my displays, then I add in some vintage goodies that reflect the current view from my windows, seasonal color, and bits and pieces of holiday ephemera.

Since it's winter, there isn't much color outside; no colorful plants, but maybe a few berries on bushes and hollies. Lots of shades of brown and gray, so inside the cupboard I'm including some of my faux evergreens that I used during Christmas. Small bottlebrush trees are here also. The brown transferware is the "Skandia" pattern, which reminds me of beautiful, delicate snowflakes.

Here we see a few ironstone tureens and old prints of churches during winter.

... And several very old Aesthetic Movement brown transferware plates.

Staffordshire cows and nativity lambs graze the shelves
among the English Country pottery cottages.

I hope you're enjoying your week and staying warm.
The sun is shining but it's 29 degrees.

I hope this YouTube video works, it's a wonderful quiet walk
through a lovely English village and countryside.

We hope you'll come by on Monday evenings for the party.

    1. thankyou Jeanie, the sheep are my faves. We've had some little snows here, nothing major yet, just keeping my fingers crossed.

  3. HI Debra! Oh, I love your Holiday cupboard! It does remind me of a sweet English setting. Our daughter and her husband lived in the UK for a couple of years before the grandbabies and they lived in the area called Yorkshire. So many little sheep grazing on the hillsides and darling little old fashioned towns. You have made your cupboard look just like that. I love the cows and sheep! You do have the touch.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  6. I loved this! The cupboard alone is very much full of all things I love, but the walk was a treat. We're walking much later in the days now, just to be able to be a bit warmer. It's nice that the sun is staying higher a little longer too. Thanks for the winter walk in your cupboard and the English countryside!
