Late Summer Look-back

I've been hunting for some inspiration for this transition time into Fall.
The fading flowers are showing the wear and tear of the sun,
the temps are still hot, the yards have started turning brown around the edges,
and this time of year, I often find myself in a little decorating funk.

Sometimes, I find inspiration comes from my own photo gallery,
simply because I can see what I did in times past,
and what things I have to work with.

So here a few pics and posts from late summer's past.
These are from the old house.
I can finally look at them without feeling that bittersweet pang.

with a few pieces of Majolica.

Hope you enjoyed the "Late Summer" Look back.
and hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

xoxo,

  1. Loved looking back at your past pictures. The leaves were blowing off the trees today, but I don't know if it was because they have had no water or if Fall in on the way. The wind has a little a little fall feel. I loved your Sun porch and how you are incorporating some of the decor into your kitchen. Made me think, so I think I will be mixing things up a bit.
Looking forward to seeing what you do for inspiration. Since my Bday and all the celebrations haven't felt like doing much.
Have a great rest of the weekend.

  2. Very pretty, Debra. I love your seashell topped bottles against the mirror. It's just horribly hot here but we did get a shower late so maybe it will help our grass that is starting to die.

  5. Oh how I love all your your transitional posts as you well know!... your tole tray is so gorgeous, need me some!... I have only one teensie one... do you still have your Missouri Sunshine sunflower seedhead?... mine are a bit crumbly now, but I am still using them... seems like that was only yesterday doesn't it?... the birdies didn't plant any this year for me... enjoy the changing of the seasons... I know you love Autumn as much as I do!... much love, xoxo... Me

  6. Those are all such pretty pictures. I always loved your beautiful fireplace in that house. We are experiencing the same thing here. The heat has worn out its welcome. We have some brown grass and even dead leaves falling off trees from the stress they're under with the extreme heat. I'm thankful that we recently had some rain though. August has always been one of my least favorite months.

  10. You sure know how to make gorgeous arrangements and vignettes. One of things I enjoy so much is putting things together I might not have before just to see how/if it works. Have been in mood to change things out lately, got tired of shells and beach stuff. Think I'll do travel this time. Have big US map and will make copies of states we've lived in to be around big map, little different. Was going to get bee stuff out but just not in mood. Travel will be easy transition to Fall when time comes. Do you decorate for seasons? You sure take nice photos and enjoy them so much. Happy week
Our summer has been different this year, how has yours been. We live in western CO, few miles west of Grand Junction, CO. We're out in country so have more room around us. Since we lived in MT on 20 acres can't stand to be in town with too many people and houses around. Like the quiet out here so much. Before MT we lived in San Diego areas for 21 yrs. We had 20 acres out on a big lake, after CA that was such a change, I really enjoyed it. No more city slicker.
Seemed so different this year, maybe cause we haven't been to our local state park lake 7 1/2 miles from our house. I love going there but grand kids have had other things to do and hubs is stubborn so no lake yet. Our weather has been so unpredictable also, not pure hot summer days in a row. Hard to plan. Kids are already in school here as of last Monday. What was our school board thinking? Rats.
Love your gorgeous hydrangeas, none here too dry and hot.
I look forward to Fall, enjoy it much more here as it gets into nice balmy days, can have windows/doors open to let fresh air in and love colors of Fall decorating. Last year hubs said no Fall stuff out til it's actually Fall, he gets tired of it all. So I try to humor him. Saves me work actually so guess it's not so bad to wait awhile anyway.
