St. Patrick's Day Farm Table Vignette

Hi Friends, last week I looked at the calendar and had a huge awakening! Easter is the last day of March this year and it's flying toward us at breakneck speed. I love decorating for St. Patrick's Day as a head start on Spring with lot's of mossy green things, green transferware, bringing out the Spring flowers and packing away all the winter blankets. When Easter falls in March we're possibly looking at a blanket of white instead of pastel Easter eggs and an egg hunt among the daffodils.

So, I'll share a bit of my Irish fun while at the same time releasing the frolicking rabbits and baby chicks. I thought I'd change up the tabletop for a bit of green and my vintage pink and green star quilt. I love the happy combination of colors in this very old quilt I found at a flea market about 15 years ago. Since Christmas I've been using a quilt folded in thirds for a base table runner.

My paperwhite moss basket plopped inside another wicker basket with twigs and sticks, for my floral element. My vintage green watering can, an ironstone tureen piled with green pottery, and a mossy shamrock bring the elements together. And it's all corralled on the whitewashed breadboard.

I have two of these 3D British cards; this one depicting a Tudor styled thatched roof house complete with white picket fence and lush garden. Do you ever see a print or illustration and find yourself imagining yourself living there? I do that frequently. I love historical homes and old prints and illustrations. A cottage somewhere hidden in Britain has been a little dream of mine for years... Cats and dogs and sheep to keep me company. (I'll let my husband come too)

Here are two more of my fave St. Patty's Day posts...

Thanks for coming by.
Let's get ready for Spring!

  1. I love this!! I changed my outdoor garden flag when the sun went down on Valentine's Day to shamrocks, and changed my office and dining tables to spring green and shamrocks. I've started bringing out the bunnies too. Yours looks so cheerful, and that dream of an English Cottage is pure bliss!

    1. For some reason I've never had a garden flag display. That's something I need to find because they are so decorative and spirit lifting. Putting that on my list! Happy Spring, friend!

  5. This is so fresh and springy! I just love your 3-D British cards. I need to bring up bunnies and get what I can out of my basement before the work. It's a good excuse (but I'm ready!)

  9. Debra, everything looks so pretty. Around here St. Patricks Day seems to fall through the cracks. I don't have a lot of green but I do have a few pieces, one that I just picked up thrifting last weekend so you have set my spirit soaring and be forewarned that it is on the way..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy
