Using Copper and Neutrals on the Christmas Baker's Rack

Hello friends, Happy Week before Christmas!! I know this will be a super busy week for all of us, so thanks for coming by to visit.

The best news of the Season is that our new (one and only) granddaughter arrived Sunday morning at 12:00 am. So glad she's here! She's a little miracle.

Earlier in November I got out some of my copper pots and kitchen pieces and wanted to put together a display for Fall and Thanksgiving. But then when it came time to decorate for Christmas I couldn't bear to put it all back away. I don't decorate with copper often, so I wanted to try something a little new, and see if I could integrate it within my Christmas decor. I didn't know how it would work colorwise with traditional red and green, but thought I might use more neutrals and see if it could all mesh.

There are a few pieces that are permanant fixtures on the baker's rack. That being my little French Girl lamp from the 40's, my antique vertical spice box with drawers and my very old wooden box with "Seed" stenciled on it. The rest is whatever seasonal books, prints, greenery and accessories that make their way over to that spot.

If you've been with me for awhile you've met this adorable little Gingerbread Guy made out of felt with a vintage tinsel collar. I bought him from a fellow antiques dealer way back in the early "naughts". He's such a happy little character and he puts a smile on your face.

One of my vintage mini Shiny Brite trees is nestled with the copper molds.

I found this hand painted sheep at about the same time and was part of a nativity set. Not sure how I ended up with the sheep. And everyone needs a quail in a copper sauce pot.

Love this guy...

A Currier and Ives Cookie Tin I found last year sits beside an antique coffee grinder that my mom bought many many years ago.

Vintage copper saucepans, saute skillets and a colander sit with my sweet shelf-sitting Santa.

I always need a disclaimer for my bottom shelves as I tend to be a bit messy and disorganized when it comes to storing and decorating these spots.

Did you catch my last post on the Gingerbread Wood Block Houses?

The Holiday Cupboard with Copper is coming up next week.

Hope you'll come by the link party on Monday evenings.

  1. It's gorgeous, Carol! An inspiration. I'd like to think that one day the bottom shelf of my rack could hold such a lovely vignette instead of bags of cat food, the mixer, and any matter of what-not needed for daily life! Till then, I revel in the beauty of yours. (I adore copper!)
