Christmas Trees and Pumpkins: Can They Be Friends?

I'm sure a lot of us are trying to get started on our Christmas decorating even though it's the week before Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving and don't want to skip it, but at the same time I want to start bringing in some Christmas decor. I found this little tree at Target and ordered a "two pack" online. It came early last week and I was absolutely ready to find a spot for it. I'm hoping the second one will work on the front porch.

I wasn't ready to go all out "Christmas".
Can a little of both get along together?
Can pumpkins and a little Christmas decor coexist?

The little lighted tree works great in the gray goat cart,
but it was going to have to play nice with my pumpkins.
The tree has a burlap wrapped base which works
great with a grain sack liner in the cart.

I also brought in some large faux evergreen stems
to add to the Fall ice cream bucket arrangement.
I like to use faux evergreens all winter long, not just for Christmas.
If you add a few mini lights it looks more "woodsy wonderland."
I could use a little wonderland this year...

My big Tom Turkey is here on the farm table along with my trusty white crate.

I have one of my ironstone tureen bases holding a birch wrapped candle,
and a vintage ceramic turkey perched on a pumpkin.

I've been adding and subtracting this week,
to easily change up this tabletop to Christmas.
The same basics are here, but with my Reindeer in the crate
and poinsettias in the bucket.

Here's a little peek at the "Christmas Farm table"
that I easily transitioned to this week,
by using the same basic elements.

I love late Fall decor, but I'm ready for some
Holly Jolly Christmas.
How about you all?

You can see in the background my Boston Fern that I'm
going to try to keep alive indoors this year.
It had a nice haircut, to cut down on the loss of dead leaves.
I also brought in a big pot of geraniums and an ivy.
We'll see how it goes...

If I can just keep the kitties from munching on them.

This is always the hardest time in the decor calendar.
Putting away all the fall stuff before you bring out Christmas.
My house has been a complete mess all week,
Thank goodness for a patient husband.

I still have more late Fall/Thanksgiving decor to share
before the elves and snowmen take over...

Have a great weekend!

  6. Debra, I definitely think pumpkins and Christmas can be friends. One reason I like the baby boo pumpkins! I haven't brought any Christmas out yet, but perhaps will start this week. I love the big white Tom Turkey and the vignette on your island. Well done! Happy Thanksgiving!

  7. I like those trees from Target! My problem is refraining from buying anything. Yes, I think the pumpkins get along fine because they're white. Funny, but even as we drive through the neighborhoods, orange was so welcome in September but now looks out of place, I think. Believe it or not, I am completely decorated for Christmas now, and yes, it is almost as much work UNdecorating fall as it is decorating Christmas. This is the time when things get misplaced because you just "stuff" one last thing or two here or there just to get it out of the way!

  8. I confess I had picked up a little tree for the bedroom---to do a doll tree, that I have been collecting for over the years and have never put up! We will see when that gets done...yes, your tree definitely goes with your natural elements, pumpkins included!!!

  9. Every year I single out the best pumpkin, spray paint it red, and give it a gold stem, Voila! A giant Christmas ornament.
