Botanical Prints in the Hearth Room

Hi Friends, I hope you're having a good weekend, I just wanted to share a quick post about some little vintage Botanical prints I just got around to hanging this week. I've been thinking about what to do with them for months. I finally decided I could make a commitment, so I jumped on in and had Hubby grab the hammer.

It's taking me a while to commit to hanging more wall art and prints here at the new house. We repaired many, and painted all of the walls during the renovation and I just haven't been in a hurry to put holes in them. Least of all make holes in this 50+ year old wood paneling that's not in the best of condition. I have to think long and hard before anything goes up on the wall.

(if you look closely under the Farmtable you will see a large dark fuzzball,
that would be Miss Wrigley, our Maine Coon kitty girl.
She's claimed this as her territory, while the other one has the Dining Room table)

I've mentioned before that I have an abundance of small vintage prints... actually, to put it mildly I have a teensy obsession with them. I found this set of Botanicals many years ago, and had them in the Entry of our (2 houses) ago on either side of the hallway. The larger one is probably an orphan print that seems to sort of match the other four. These are probably from the late 60's, and the muted tones of gold and taupe painted frames are perfect for these little bits of wall that are on either side of the opening to the Garden Room.

I'm good at "eyeballing" art placement, but when it comes to more than one piece at a time,
I have to get another set of eyes and hands. Then step back and think about it.

As you can see from the background, I'm bringing in a little of what I call "Fall Lite". I like to add Fall in a little at a time. Late August is all about Sunflowers and some dried flowers, grasses, berries and branches. I'm excited about being a part of a Blog Hop the Tuesday after Labor Day so I'm in the beginning stage of gearing up for that. (a few small white pumpkins somehow have sneaked on to the mantel. and a few on the table. Not sure how they got there...?)

Please come join in with our new Link Party on Monday evenings at 6:00 Central.
We'd love to have you share all the inspiration from your place!

  1. Love the botanicals Debra. They look great. Still holding onto summer over here but I do love seeing some of the fall decor coming on blogs. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

  2. Debra,
The placement of your botanical prints is perfect!
Love seeing your "fur baby" adjust to her new surroundings!
Keep those glimpses of Autumn coming.
    Truly inspirational!

  3. I do love your placement of the botanicals, Debra. They're classic. I've had a set I saw at one of my dlr friends' estate sale they're hosting this weekend and was thinking I'd go back today to see if they were still there. I don't know exactly where I'd hang them, but I keep thinking about them! I was like you in taking my time hanging art and other prints, not wanting to make holes, wanting to be certain. Mr. P. is more particular than I am which makes it that much harder!
    Have a great Sunday.

  4. You are great at "eyeballing"....I have to get the tape measure and spend way to much time trying to get things hung just right! I have never decorated much with sunflowers but this year I am totally obsessed with them, and I love the way you have used them on your mantel. See you at the party!

  7. Debra our walls are 99 year old plaster and hanging anything was a disaster of crumbles and holes until I discovered command strips! They are a great solution and they don't tear off the paint if you want to change something. I have used them to hang ironstone dishes and pictures for over a year and nothing has fallen. I buy the 16 lb capacity even if I am going to hang a lightweight picture. I think they would have been perfect for your prints. I hope this info helps so you can play around a bit more with changing seasonal pictures. I was really stuck with my decorating due to the plaster walls until I discovered them. Not the ones with the hooks, but the ones that stick to the back of the picture, then you stick the other strip on the wall and stick them together like velcro.

I am a sucker for old botanicals! Your's are beautiful along with everything else in the hearth room.

Those pumpkins seem to have a mind of their own, don't they?
