Our Home for Christmas 2017 Tour

Welcome, everyone! Yes, we've made it to Day 5 of Marty's wonderful Christmas Home Tour Week. A big round of applause needs to go to our friend and hostess, Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. She does an amazing job of gathering a diverse and talented group of bloggers and decorators who all share a love for celebrating Christmas.

If you've just come from Laura's at Duke Manor Farm, I'm so glad you're here. One thing I love about Marty's Home Tour is that a variety of decor styles are all brought together to give us an amazing grouping of inspiration. From Glam to Traditional to Farmhouse; it's all here for you to enjoy.

Today I'm going to be showing my Entry and Dining Room decked for a vintage inspired Christmas. I will share the rest of the spaces next week when we get together for our Blog Party on December 13. Our upstairs is basically an open concept space, so I like to keep a theme and color scheme that flows from one area to the next.

Red Tartan Plaid is a staple in my Christmas decor and has been for years, but this year I wanted to keep a calm and white Entry area. I found this new white lighted wreath, and although I tried out several different elements here on the console, I kept coming back to the fresh neutral feel of white.

In the past I've planted 100's of Paperwhite bulbs in a variety of vintage vessels, from early November to late Spring. Since moving to our current home, I've been a little short on space, so finding lifelike faux Paperwhites has been an easy design switch. I love fresh flowers and greenery, but with 3 nosey kitties it's best for me to go faux.

Sheep seem to be the theme of the Entry this year, and this little guy is indeed a Sheep/candle. I'm sure his eyes are in there somewhere under all those curls. He was a Christmas gift several years ago from our kids from Anthropologie.

Changing up the Seasonal and Holiday themes here on the Entry Console also means featuring an old print. I've collected small prints, graphics and paintings during my years as a Vintage goods dealer, so this Christmas, sticking with the sheep, I painted out the way-too-gold frame of one of my favorite prints, "The Shortening Winter's Day" by Joseph Farquharson. A little mix of ASCP and taupe latex made the paint change a quick and easy fix.

A galvanized metal conservatory frame holds a metal sheep elevated on some old books.

Immediately to the left is our Dining Area. Calling it a Dining Room would really be stretching it, as it's a very small space but one I love to decorate. I like to layer table linens and runners, so for Christmas that usually means one layer will be Red Tartan Plaid. I found a large Stewart Plaid tablecloth at Tuesday Morning earlier in the season, so I just folded it in half to be a base for my Burlap Holly Tablerunner.

I made the Holly Topiaries years ago, and they fit perfectly into my Guy Wolff Pottery vases. Several years ago, during their after Christmas Sale I found two sizes of Pottery Barn white wooden lanterns. They were such a good price I bought 2 of each size. The smaller ones stay on my mantel throughout the year.

When it comes to decorating, I'm a big ribbon fan. So this year a red plaid ribbon is married to the Vintage Font Burlap ribbon (same as the Paperwhite Urn) on the lantern.

A Royal Kensington teapot fits into the traditional Plaid theme on the table.

One of my smaller Ironstone covered vegetable tureens
is filled with a few vintage Christmas ornaments.

This year I wanted to do something a little different on the sideboard. I usually keep several large glass cloches here, but this year I used a gold and white theme of mercury glass votive candleholders and two new mini lanterns on old books.

My husband surprised me one year for our anniversary with this sheep painting.
It's one of my very favorite art pieces.

Vintage gold and silver ornaments decorate the old Ironstone scalloped platter.

More faux Paperwhites with live Ivies here on the vintage wire plantstand.

I opted out of a large tree this year.
Instead I just tied a plaid ribbon around my little topiary here in the Dining Area.
That's my tip for easy Christmas decorating...
Find some greenery and tie a ribbon on it!

Here's a peek at the Living Room and Kitchen Sitting Area that I'll be
sharing next week.
