A Little Cream and Sugar with that Tree?

A few years ago, after both of the girls were married, I went through all the Christmas ornaments and separated them for their own family Christmas trees.  Then, when I started in the flea market biz a while back I began collecting silver and gold Shiny Brites. I love the ones with scenes or that are embossed. But to really make a little yuletide "sparkle", I gathered my vintage sugars and creamers and hung them alongside on the Living Room Tree.

I love the contrast between the burlap and the "woodsy" feel

with the silver, golds, and sparkly.

I guess you could call it my "Magpie Tree".

( A bird who finds shiny treasures and brings them back to the nest)

A Snowbaby from my mom.

and some nature and woodland creatures

This tree is a contrast to my Dining Room tree

 that's loaded with lots of color and vintage Putz Houses and Churches.

I think I'm about "done" with the decorating,

Now, I'm just trying to slow down and enjoy the Season.

Christmas Home Tour

There are several Christmas Home parties this week and I wanted to share a little tour of the upstairs. I went with plaid and toile in the Dining Room this year, but the other rooms I wanted a more serene and spiritual influence.

This is my entry hall console table, that I painted white last year. I always want to keep "Christ" in Christmas; Him being the reason for the Holiday Season. I wanted to keep that my focus here. It all sort of flows together in the hall, entry and the Living Room, with an Old World feel.

I found this little oatmeal colored tree this Fall, and it fit perfectly in the big concrete urn. I always have a hard time decorating it for Christmas, but I really like this.

My smallish Christmas tree in the foyer is decorated with silver sugar and creamers. (another post coming on this) I have it setting in my black goat cart to give it a little more presence.

My prints and angel and silver are mostly flea market finds. (so much of my decor is vintage), I only purchased a few new items this year. One of those was the two lanterns from Inspirational Home. One is here, the other is on the sideboard.

A nativity snow globe is setting inside. And this is the mirror I bought last month at Pheona's Vintage Market. I wasn't sure where it would go when I brought it home, but I think I like it here, for the Holidays.

If you're new to my blog, last summer I took a wild leap of faith

and painted most of my living room furniture white.

It was pretty traumatic and a lot of work,

but I love how it completely changed the look and feel of my home.

This is the sideboard this Christmas. I finally got my husband to hang this big ole window. It had been setting on the sideboard, but it took up too much space. I really enjoy decorating it. It was sort of bare until I hung the vintage Shiny Brites. Love how it turned out. I'll be doing a post on it later.

Then, the kitchen, where I have used the red and white again.

I've been "streeeeetching" my photos since my camera has been gone.

Father Christmas in the House

I thought I would share a little more of the downstairs sitting area

where the Holiday Cupboard resides. 

This Santa, I like to call my "Father Christmas",

because he doesn't sport a red suit or have a sleigh.

He makes his gifts by hand 

and carries them in a burlap duffle over his shoulder.

He's a kindly old soul and sort of keeps to himself.

He walks with a lantern on a shepherd's crook

 and isn't known for loud bellows of Ho Ho Ho.

He's a much quieter sort.

The woodland creatures love him and reindeer

 have been known to pull a small cart for him on his journey.

He knows each child by name,

 and fashions their gift according to what they would love.

So glad you could meet my Father Christmas.

Lot of things on my table to keep the old man company:

Graphic print with some sweetie pie sheep.

I've shown this strange photograph several times before.

I love the authentic weirdness of it!

I don't have any history on it, but it looks European to me.

My table also holds a few of my vintage bisquit tins.

I found these this Fall

Some ironstone and a little quail.

Just a cozy spot to relax.

My mom made my Father Christmas character in the late 80's, 

and he's one of my favorite Christmas items.

She hand painted the face and stitched the garments.

She made quite a few to sell at a Christmas show one year,

and I was thrilled to receive him from her.

Each one was different and unique.
