I finally gave in...

Up until just a couple of years ago, a lot of my furniture was painted black.
My inspiration piece for this was this little Eastlake dresser,
that I've had in my Entry since we moved here.

A year ago I started the transformation to "white".
A need to lighten and brighten my surroundings really put me in high gear.

I've put off painting this little dresser until a few weeks ago,
because, even though I still love the black,
it didn't match anything else in the entry area.

So I used my favorite Behr primer plus paint,
then added some mocha glaze,
a couple of coats of liquid poly,
and a little light distressing.

I went with painted hardware, to tone down the brassy gold.
(certainly not the originals)

...much happier!

And I really don't know how it came out with these curvy little Queen Anne-ish legs.

Detailed bullseye Eastlake motif.

(the before)

As you can see it's finish was a little dated with sponged gold highlights.
(sorry, old camera from early blogging days)

It's such a pretty little piece, that is a real storage answer;
holding gloves and scarves for winter.

so...one more down...a few to go.

I'm linking with these great parties:

Hope you can join in for Vintage Inspiration Friday.
I'll let you know what I was up to last weekend.

love ya,
