Vintage Botanical Print in the Early Summer Entry

It had been since before Easter that I gave the Entry a seasonal freshen up. I wanted to make a few changes that would carry this area easily into Summer. I had my husband pull out the floral tubs last week, but then I decided to just keep the paperwhites here a bit longer. They're one of my favorite go-to faux flower looks. I had plenty of other arrangements to freshen up to move into Summer.

Many of us force real paperwhite bulbs starting in late Fall to use at Christmas through Easter. I use paperwhites real and faux, as a staple during the Holidays through Easter. A way to give the console vignette a little update is to change up prints and vintage accessories as well as the florals. This last year I've been adding a seasonal wire ribbon to the arrangement to add a bit of seasonal color and pattern.

For Easter and Spring I had a light green/cream Toile wired ribbon on the urn, but I wanted something with a little contrast and some pop for Summer. I love the color combo of black/white/yellow for early summer so I used this black and white linen gingham check that compliments the vintage print.

I found this vintage botanical print years ago, but hadn't framed it until we moved here. I had a great vintage gold frame, that I painted white over the gold color and all of the sudden it was the perfect frame for this print. Even though it's labeled as "November" it's a summertime bouquet of daisies, sunflowers, marigolds and zinnias. Since it was white with bold color accents it works with the checked linen ribbon.

The little vintage bluebird bud vase is from Czechoslovakia
and is one of my favorite summertime accessories.
It has a chip on the smaller opening, but it's so sweet I have to use it.

I love using old postcards in a vignette, and I wanted something that had a bright color contrast-y look. This one is an old Birthday postcard with an illustration of a country cottage probably from the late 20's. Earlier in the year I found this glass floating frame that's perfect to display old postcards. It's easy to elevate the look of an old piece of ephemera when it's showcased under glass.

  7. in the 80's my neighbor ordered all twelve months of the botanical prints for $10.00 from Family Circle magazine. They came rolled up in a tube and she let me pick two for my living room. I loved them so much.. had them matted in darkest navy blue and framed in gold. They are still my favorite and I have never taken them down. Look as good today as they did back then.
