Woodland Creatures and the Late October Hearth Room

As October heads into it's last weeks, I'm tweaking a few things around the house. I'm bringing in a few darker colors now that the heat wave is over, and some heavier textures. Two old friends are joining me on the mantel to add a little woodsy charm in the Hearth Room.

I found this old concrete owl a couple of years ago at my favorite vintage market, The Vintage Peddler. Someone once painted him white, but years of the elements wore most of it away. He also weighs a ton, and is sort of "flake-y".

Mr. Gray Squirrel was originally a bank, and he's about as dilapidated as his owl friend.
But the two of them make a great pair up here on the mantel.

A grouping of white pumpkins fill in the gaps.

I leaned my Fruit and Hydrangea Fall Wreath up against the mirror back in late September. I did a little makeover on it when I first bought it HERE. I did have two small wheelbarrows up there, but removed those when the critters moved in.

The mirror has stayed put since we moved in. It weighs a bunch and is very unwieldy, so it's there semi-permanently. I think it's easier to just lean prints and frames up against it for a change for the seasons.

Here are a few more pics of the October Hearth Room...

I found these heavy linen Orange/Black Buffalo Check pillowcovers on Etsy.
 Love them, they're so October!
(BTW where did October actually go?)

Oblong check pillow too.

The sideboard hasn't changed much this month.
Still enjoying the warmth of the copper pieces
and velvet pumpkins in the English Transferware bowl.

The landscape saga continues,
Hope you're having a great week.

See you Monday!
