Styling My Buffet for Fall

f
I've been trying to spread out my Fall decorating over the last few weeks. It's given me a chance to try out a few different ideas, and also taken the pressure off to get it all done in a couple of days. I used to make myself and my husband crazy by going into a marathon decor frenzy. Now I'm taking my time and looking for inspiration from Pinterest and Fall Magazines from my many year stash.

I've been buying Cavallini Calendars for years, as they are perfect for framing after you have turned the page. My favorite recently has been their Botanical Wall Calender, since they are reproduction vintage illustrations printed on heavy matte card stock. I've used them in decor several times, most recently in one of my Summer Cloches with Sunflowers.

This is from my 2017 Calendar, and I think it's perfect for September, since it's an Hydrangea in a soft cream and gray. I needed it to be in a larger frame or something that would give it the ability to stand above the pumpkin arrangement that is centered on the Buffet. I considered just taping it to the mirror, but found this old art canvas instead. I thought this might give me the light background the print needed, and also has the vintage texture that I was looking for.

I loved the "foxing" that is on the bottom of the canvas, just like you'd find on the pages of old books.

I propped the canvas up on the lip of the basin, so it would have just the right height.

This Spring I was using one of my French Faience round platters as a base for my largest cloche, but since it is in Spring colors of blues, mauves, and greens, I looked around for something that had a bit  more of a Fall feel. This Staffordshire Historic Castle Platter has been in my Kitchen China Cupboard and was ready to be put to use. It's pretty large so it was a perfect fit for the cloche.

I used an old book stash as the base for my nest, and added a Baby Boo Pumpkin with some preserved Fall leaves for a Autumn feel.

The smaller cloche is on a milkglass cakestand with a woody moss basket, and a Velvet Pear from my friend Becky from Flax and Willow, previously Timewashed.

Sorry for the glare on the glass of the cloche...

Late in August I found some wonderful moss pumpkins from Grandinroad and just had to start using them. I had had them on the French Wagon on the Dining Room Table, but decided I'd try them in a mix with Velvet Pumpkins in my wonderful old Royal Doulton Pomegranate Bursalem Basin. The colors of this old Basin are perfect for Fall with rusts, reds, and a dark turquoise blue.

Twigs, faux Hydrangeas in Rusty reds and greens, and Fall leaves, are mixed with the grouping of Pumpkins.

I'm sure as it progresses into Fall; October and November, I'll change this up. But for now the Hydrangea Print gives it a lighter, more neutral look.

Hope you're having a good week,
My husband wore a jacket to work this morning
and the AC hasn't kicked on all day, yay!

    1. thanks Laura, I think maybe that's the first time I've actually used books in a cloche. I had it all styled, then looked at it and the nest was just too "short"! haha.
