Tartan Plaid Lunchbox with a Little Christmas Kitch...

Hi Everyone, have you made a big dent in the Christmas Decorating,
or are you still recovering from Thanksgiving?

I've reached the place where the big things are done,
and now I get to "play" with the vignettes and details.

I've seen several fun boxes, lunchboxes, sewing drawers etc.
filled with Christmas "kitch" and odds and ends on Pinterest.
Those pics got me excited to do a little project on my own.
If you're like me you have lots of small vintage minutia
that floats around at Christmas.

So I decided to put a few of them together for a little
display on my Baker's Rack.

The light wasn't the best when I took these pics.
(Typical November here: gray and cloudy, and misty rain)
so I came into the Dining Room for a better photo op.

Here are just a few pics from Pinterest
 that gave me some inspiration:

(Next 4 photos source can be found HERE.)

Love this old cheese box!
I've had quite a few of these over the years,
but I've sold most of them,
I never knew quite what to do with them. 😖

Lots of snow people?
They can hang out together!

These are too cute.
How did they make that snowy/glitter icing stuff?

I had a little more space to work with,
so I used some bigger pieces.

(I think this is a Shiny Brite)

Pressed Paper/Cotton Reindeer
He's really an ornament.

If you don't have any vintage things,
just use a Christmas Tin with some small items,
it will be just as cute!

This was so much fun, I think I'll make up a few more.

Do you have this on your Bloggy Calendar?
Hope you'll come link up your Christmas Fun,
Tuesday December 13th.

If you'd like to share the invitation
there's a small graphic on the sidebar.

  2. Debra, I don't know how they made the glittery icing stuff on those items, but it could probably be easily done with hot glue or other "gloppy" stuff like caulk, then painted with glitter paint. It's a great look!

  7. Love your charming lunchbox vignette! I'm sure your bakers rack looks very festive! The snowpeople in the red plaid tin gave me an idea for my small collection of them--they'll look so happy all together in a rustic box. I could do the same thing with our Santa/St. Nicholas collection. I scooted over to Pinterest to see some more vignettes and enjoyed them all. Thanks for sharing your creativity!

  9. Hi Debra: I LOVE these ideas! I'll have to file them away to use next Christmas at our farmhouse. I'm so looking forward to when we have the renovation completed so we can cook our first family Christmas meal there. We'll be there this year, but we won't be moved in until after the first of the year, so the holiday celebrations will be hosted by others this time. Wishing you and yours all the blessings of the season. xoxo D

  13. It is all so adorable!!

To make snow......fill a small jar half way with Elmer's Glue, pour in Baby Powder and mix with a stick from a popsicle, it should be pretty thick. Apply to item with the stick, cover with fake snowflakes/glitter. Let dry. Throw away jar and stick. You can add glitter before you spread the snow, but then it is difficult to spread and the glitter gets lost. Have fun!!!

  15. Well, how cheery is this? I just love what you do with vintage. I keep hearing folks say that they are "finally" getting to the decorations. Bloggers are next to retail in getting the season started early! Haha! I'm getting ready to start. I'm feeling the lift that I get right when the season starts, and enjoying the music. I hope it is a joyous time for you.

  16. Debra, we are on the same page. I bought a cute snowcouple with plaid scarves at a vintage sale to go in my plaid lunchbox. Have not had a chance to do it yet, hopefully tomorrow. Yours turned out darling! I love the reindeer!! I also have 15 spice tins sitting on my craft desk to decorate similar to those (not as fancy and my tins are not as old). I am giving them as gifts to my stitching group ladies. Thanks for sharing with SYC. Oh, and I have a cheese box. Must do something with it now. lol! It never ends!! Looking forward to your party.
    hugs,
    Jann
