A Mantle in Transition and A Rustic Centerpiece

Are you ready for Thanksgiving, friends?

We're on our own, the two of us, so I've been using this last week to do the transition from Fall / Thanksgiving to Christmas decor. I won't say it's been a quick process, but I did have one area that was relatively easy because I had a few of the elements already in place... The mantel in the Hearth Room.

In October I found some really cute little metal lanterns / houses at Michaels and I grabbed them up before they were sold out. They came in 2 sizes, but I bought the smaller ones because I knew I wanted them to be on the mantel. I decided to go ahead and use them for my late Fall mantel display because they were just too cute and fit right in with the white pumpkins. That's what I love about anything white. It works with most seasonal decor.

When I started working on changing out the Hearth Room
mantel to Christmas, it was an easy 1-2-3.

1. First, I replaced the Fall Hydrangea wreath with a different one
that looks a little more Christmas-y. Red berries and no fall leaves.

I left the tall spindly evergreen topiaries,
since they don't take up a lot of visual space.

2. Second, I removed the pumpkins and fall leaves
and replaced them with the small ceramic houses
that I've found over the last few years.

3. And third I added in another set of small lanterns
with battery operated timer tealights and white wooden candlesticks.
Soon I'll add in a small bit of faux greenery.

So, here are a few pics of the Thanksgiving Mantel,
and the Hearth Room which I haven't shared yet.

I've had my small tree up for the last several weeks,
and I really enjoy it throughout the Thanksgiving season.
This year instead of the large olive bucket
I'm using an old bushel basket with burlap to keep it secured.

The white house lanterns needed a little height,
so they're sitting on a vintage book stack.

I wanted to also share my newest little tapestry
pumpkin treasure from SMWollman Designs.
I'm using the tapestry pumpkins in a last minute Thanksgiving Centerpiece
that was super simple to put together with a few pieces on hand.

I wasn't using my Pottery Barn urn, so it worked perfectly
to add in my pumpkins nestled in some deer shed antlers
and a few faux hydrangeas.
It's not large or obtrusive so it would work nicely on a table.
A centerpiece to use at the dinner table needs to be compact
and not obliterate the line of sight of those seated.

As you can see I'm in the middle of working
on the Dining Room tablescape for Christmas.
It's a bit different this year, so I'm excited to share it.

Here's the little pumpkin cutie, now.

I'll have more pics of the Christmas mantel soon. The few I had here were quick snaps with the weird lighting I have to live with. I hope you're having a great Thanksgiving week. I know most of us are ready to jump on the Christmas Train. We just don't have enough time to really "enjoy" Christmas to the full with decor that takes so long to put up. And I'm always tweaking it up until the week before Christmas.

I hope you have good travel weather this week. We're supposed to be rainy and cold, but that makes it perfect to enjoy a daytime fire. Take care, friends. You all are such a blessing to me!! Stay well.

Here's last year's Christmas mantel...
