You White Up My Life

Sorry, that's been rummaging around in my brain
and I just had to say it.

Anything look different?

I'm almost afraid to admit it.
Yes, I have a gallon of white paint and I'm not afraid to use it...

I won't show the before picture
(ok, just a teensy tiny one, so you can't see
how fabulous it is, er...was.)

because I'm afraid some of you might come after me
and kick my fanny.

You know how it is when you have something that's totally gorgeous,
that you absolutely LOVE and adore,
but it's not quite right?

Something that you think about,
consider,
weigh the consequences,
(will it be a huge mistake and will I want it back like before?)
and obsess over?

OK,
maybe you're not ocd...
but I think you can relate.

Anyhoo, I just couldn't get past the idea that this wonderful
piece of furniture didn't match not one other thing in my house.

So out came the white paint and the brush and roller.
Now I can relax...
it's white.

and so as not to waste white paint,
I slapped some on a few other unfortunates around the house.

This print had a "terra cotta" colored frame

well, I guess because it IS terra cotta,
but what were they thinking?...
it didn't match at all.

and these old chalk french children had been gold.
You know what that means...

yup, nothing is safe around here.

and here's a completed project
that didn't require paint,
just some muscle.

We finally got the Dining Room chairs covered.
10, count 'em.
Thank goodness my husband is a helping hand!

I still have more chair slips to make
but that can wait for awhile.

Now, I'm just warning you;
Fall will be visiting here soon.
It's my favorite time of the year,
so at the end of August
(blah)
summer gets booted out!

  10. Oh boy, Debra, you know us all too well! I saw the first picture of the table and I said out loud "Oh no! She didn't!" and you did!! How funny that you knew how some of us would react to that, but it is totally understandable given that you felt it wasn't fitting in. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right? : )

  46. That table turned out great. I just got a computer armoire that is of course going to be loaded with appliques and yes - painted! A friend of mine saw it out on the patio last night and said What? You're gonna paint it, but it's such a nice piece of furniture! And just like you said, I told her "It doesn't go with anything in my house, I have to paint it!"

It's a big project but one day it will be a WW post too. I wonder how long you're gonna keep your beautiful dining table and chairs that way? You know slip covers won't curb your paint obession forever. Ha-ha!

    Sincere Blessings,
    Missy

  49. I remember when you bought it home. I believe you said your husband had gotten it for you? Anyway, I thought it was beautiful then and I think it is beautiful now. Do not fret! If you get tired of it, you can always paint it again. I have to say this post has helped me because I have a piece of furniture similar to this and it must be painted. I have had a hard time deciding to paint it grey or white!

  50. I never get enough white! I love it! Gray was pretty, white is better!

  51. Hi Debra, everything looks great! Love those slipcovered dining chairs. I have a cupboard in the kitchen and bookshelf in the bedroom I would like to paint a nice creamy white, but I am still organizing after returning from the States. 2 weeks before I head back to work. Jet lag is kicking butt at the moment.

Best wishes for a beautiful day! It's noon and I've already been up 8-1/2 hours. Yikes! :/ Tammy

  59. Hi Debra,

I think there's a contagious virus spreading...so many of us have creamy white paint, Valspar "divine cream" in my house...just a fancy name for creamy white. :0) Most of what I can lift and move around is turning white and what I can't handle my husband is. ALL of my lamps are waiting to be transformed...when you see my lampshade transformations you'll agree that it will be complete when the lamps are painted.

It's just purity at it's best...such clear clean energy. My rooms fill so much larger.

Your table is absolutely fabulous..it was born to be white!

I'm visiting for White Wednesday. Hope you will pop by for a moment!

    Happy Day,
    Stephanie ♥
