Spring Paint Refresh for the Goat Cart

After Valentine's Day is here and gone, we can legitimately begin to think about Spring. Around here in the southern Mid-West, February is still considered Winter. Cold temps, freezing rain and snow are the norm. Once and awhile we'll have a surprise day or two of 65. There may be a few little Daffodils pushing up through the snow, and we know the worst of Winter is usually over. We can now start dreaming about gardens, flowers, and all things "green", without judgement. (insert happy face and a wink)

I've been thinking about Spring decor and ideas to try a few new things around here. Sometimes I feel sorry for you all, because I'm really limited on areas around the house that I can decorate. You all are always so kind to encourage and compliment my sometimes meager attempts to stay current with blogging.

One thing I wanted to do to get ready for Spring decorating and Easter, was to finally get my larger black goat cart painted. Last Spring I painted out my smaller black table-top cart in a French Gray. That paint color change has made that little cart so much more versatile and an easy compliment to what may be going on on top of the Dining Room table. Here it is right after being painted with my new rabbit for a Spring tabletop Vignette. I used it throughout the year, and it was so much fun to accessorize.

So now it's time to get busy on a little makeover for this one. It's perfect for Fall decor, filled with pumpkins and mums, but other than that it's not Seasonal Paint color "friendly". It's not an old one, so no problem with doing a little paint refresh.

Before I do anything else it needs a good wiping down.

I always say that you can tell what I'm up to by my latest Pinterest Pins.

The one thing these Pinterest pics have in common is that they have a "natural" finish, and that's what I'm going for, a look of "old wood" distressed; a gray weathered finish.

This one has a little blue, but overall it looks perfectly weathered to me.

LOVE this one with the basket inside!

So that's what I'm up to...

What are you all doing to get ready for Spring?
any paint projects in your immediate future?

  2. A real goat cart has been on my wishlist for years but they are always so expensive! We have a fun garden cart that I've had for many, many years. I spray paint it for a fresh new finish when needed and fill it up with flowers every spring. Can't wait to see what you do. :)

  5. My sister in law has a goat cart and I have always loved it! Hers is natural wood. You shared some real beauties and I can't wait to see yours after the makeover! I am in the process of painting my French mug rack white. It's brown and I'd like a lighter look. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
