a little personal update...

Hi Friends, just wanted to do a quick "hello" and let you know I'm taking a few days or so off, to have some heart tests. My health has been fairly unpredictable for awhile with the Gluten Ataxia and the Autoimmune revelations.

(photos from 2014)

Having the added heart problems means I have to be vigilant and aware of anything different that I'm feeling. Often it's hard to know what is medication related, Hiatal Hernia, joint pain, Sjogren's, or "whatever". I have a laundry list of symptoms that now seems endless and I'm really over it all.

I've been in the hospital for an angiogram of my heart and it has turned up some unexpected issues with my last heart procedure of almost 2 years ago. There are some blockages, but we're not understanding exactly what is causing them (or exactly how to fix them). Lot's of questions and now it's leading to more procedures.

One thing I haven't discussed here is that this last year since being off gluten I've lost almost 25 pounds, and my cholesterol has been ok. I haven't had much of an appetite, and I guess my body is resetting to where I'm at a "normal" weight, for me. The gluten kept me from losing weight because my body wasn't processing correctly. I was hoping that getting my inflammation down, the heart problems would be a thing of the past. At least not yet. Like I said, a lot of questions.

So, I'm going to take a bit of time away, and try to get things "fixed", or at least a better outlook. My mind isn't exactly on decor or anything else for that matter. I know anyone with health problems understands. Sometimes everything has to take a back seat so you can focus; no self imposed stress or feeling like I should be doing something, except taking it easy and being "present". I've taken time away before and come back. Just need a break right now. I'm thankful God is in control of this and not me... (or the doctors)

If you want to catch up you can read HERE and HERE.

The baby finches on the front porch light fixture are about ready to "fly the coop". They've been a bright spot, as I check on them multiple times a day. That nest is full of "baby bird". I'm seeing 3 of them, trying to count little heads and tail feathers. so sweet. I'm expecting mom and dad to start teaching the art of wing flapping any time now.

love you all, hope to be back soon,

  9. I too suffer from the same autoimmune diseases. You will be in y daily prayers. I work very hard at “creative avoidance.” My time spent in the garden helps a lot. I planted seeds in the pouring rain yesterday. I thought to myself, It’s now or maybe never. As I planted each seed, I prayed for them to grow and for my pain to go away for at least a little while. I can no longer dig to China but I can watch my roses bloom. I hope that you find peace and some joy in daily life. Those baby birds discovering their ability to fly should help.

  16. Thank you for being a light in the darkness as you've opened up to share the journey with your health. You are loved, appreciated, lifted up in prayer daily Debra. So many have health issues and with your gift of sharing so clearly what you have lived through for years, helps so many that struggle with finding medical help and that they believe the pain we are in.

  20. Hugs and Prayers Debra. Keeping good thoughts and wishes that your health questions get answered and you begin to really feel so much better. Autoimmune problems are so hard to get in control and they take a tole on so many other organs. You have a good mind set that will help you through these frustrating issues. Congrats on losing the 25lbs. That is so great.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  25. Dear Debra,
I hope things get sorted out fast. I am having rotator cuff surgery on Wednesday. Went for my pre op visit. Unexpected findings for me too. My kidneys are failing! Circle the wagons and take care of you. I'll put you on my prayer list for sure. GOD is in control. HE loves you very much. Blessings.

  26. You're so right. When the body is out of whack, creative pursuits seem more difficult, frivolous and challenging. I send you loads of good wishes for the right answers, best procedures and good recovery. And I'm glad about the weight. A tough way to lose it, I suppose, but at least it's nice to have one bright little light. Sending all good thoughts.

  27. Debra..Please feel better. Do what you need to ...nothing more important than your health. Wise of you to be aware. Thanks for the baby Finch update. Raised a few who were on my porch that parents abandoned. They brought a smile to my life. Take care. Will continue to keep you in my prayers. 💕
