Peter Rabbit and Friends in the Cupboard

Hello Friends, Happy Easter week! Everyone is gathered in the Holiday Cupboard this Easter and spring season in honor of the Peter Rabbit Books. I don't have a big collection of vintage Easter items, but I have a few vintage figures, and some rabbit/bunny figural pieces that I've collected through the years.

The Holiday Cupboard is such a fun place to display seasonal and holiday pieces using a backdrop of dishes, china, pottery and ironstone. I've called it my dollhouse for dishes. This season I'm using my French faience as the dish base, which gives color and pastels in blues, pinks, greens and yellows. Also a few pieces of ironstone with tureens, and a Fitz and Floyd "Berry" pattern platter from 1990.

In past years I've kept my green transferware pieces as a backdrop in the cupboard, but this year I busted out the more colorful faience which I use throughout the summer.

I do have short stacks of green transferware to add some height to some décor pieces. My "Velveteen Rabbit" is supervising all the fun. Many of these pieces are from the 80's when I started buying seasonal fun décor when my girls were young.

A fun little white mini wheelbarrow has a yellow fuzzy guy made for Easter baskets and next to it are two very old cloth embroidered bunnies. A vintage Sees Easter candy tin and various rabbits gather on the shelves.

My mom gave me this large coffee/tea pot and water pitcher in the Johnson Brothers Regency pattern many years ago.

I have a few vintage postcards sprinkled about.

Hard to see, but this trio of bunny pals are nestled in a homemade "Seedbox" that I put together a few years ago. Mine are easy to make seed boxes with reproduced seed graphics in a small white painted box. Make Your Own Vintage Seed Boxes, HERE.

The round box platform for the Easter bunnies were made for stashing candy and gifts.

My vintage chippy stepstool can usually be found in front of the Holiday Cupboard and my vintage Paper Mache rabbit is hanging out this season.

These sets of books are from the mid-90's.

I remember when my paternal grandmother would carry me around and show me all her curious little animal figurines so many years ago. And now, I'm looking forward to when our little 3 month old granddaughter will be old enough to carry around and show all the fun little figures and pieces that I've collected. And I have some bunny books for storytime!

Hope you're having a wonderful Easter Week!

  5. So very cute, Debra. I don't want spring to end, and think I'll keep the bunnies out a while beyond Easter. I think you should too! Happy Easter blessings!

  6. The bunny looks adorable perched on the ladder. I wish I could say I have vintage Easter postcards, but I do not. Yours are excellent.
