Valentine Pocket Pillow

Hello Friends, today I wanted to share an adorable little pillow that I bought a while ago from a sweet blogging friend. I think it must have been about 10 years ago. Judy lived in Oklahoma and her blog was 20 North Ora. Many of you blogging at the time will remember Judy and her wonderful Etsy Shop where she created and sold lovely handmade linens with a vintage touch. I bought several pieces from her that I still use each year to decorate.

I was looking through my pillow stash a few days ago and found this precious "pocket pillow" made from a cotton linen fabric and embellished with a sweet vintage crocheted doily. The best thing about this is that it can be used for any season or holiday. Just tuck in a few little items in the pocket and you have a sweet accessory pillow for any time of the year.

Sunporch Switcheroo... This post was from 2013 out on my sunporch at my original blogging home for Spring and Mothers' Day. Here, I'm using the pillow with vintage seed packets tucked inside.

I've used this for fall, Christmas and Easter too. Just add in a bit of vintage ephemera or nostalgia for a sweet decor accessory. I've not made any of these but I think they would be a relatively easy project. A sweet gift anyone would love.

As you can see the doily is folded over and handstitched on to the body of the main pillow then embellished with rosettes and ribbon. Since this is for Valentine's Day I chose a few vintage Valentine cards, some millinery flowers, an antique velvet postcard, and a fragile heart embellished hankie.

I'm out in the sitting area of the Garden Room and on the wicker settee with a red/cream toile quilted throw and a few toile pillows. My very old cardboard candy box (which received a paint update last year) is the background.

Here's the settee done up for Valentine's Day. I'll be sharing more of the garden room a bit later.

Here's a fun post from last year's garden room.

Do you have snow where you are?
that would be a "Yup" here.

Hope you'll come by the link party on Monday evenings.

  1. Oh my goodness!m, I bought one of those from Judy also! At this moment I'm not exactly sure where I stored it, but I vacuum sealed a lot of my pillows. I definitely kept it. Your Valentine pocket is adorable.

  8. Your vintage Valentine box made me smile. I remember receiving these from my parents, seems like a lifetime ago now, but I wish I would have kept at least one. Those vintage Valentine's sure do set the pillow off perfectly! Thank you for sharing your inspiration.

  11. What a darling idea! I love how you can transition it from one theme to another. The valentine hanky is a nice touch! Yes, I remember Judy's blog. I was recently commenting how special our blogging community is, and how it has spanned the years. I started my blog August, 2009.

  13. I love the pocket pillow, too! It would be a great way to salvage "wounded" linens, too! I love how you can re-decorate it to fit any holiday! I enjoy pillow covers as they take up so much less space than umpteen pillows!
