Vintage Cottage Weekend: Spring to Summer Birds in the Garden Room

Hello, my friends. Here we are with Memorial Day this weekend. (so hard to believe) At Vintage Cottage Weekend we share how we use vintage cottage elements in our decorating. Starting in June I'll be decorating with a patriotic summer theme, but for this last week of May I wanted to share a few pics from the Garden Room with one of my favorite late Spring themes. Birds!

These are pics from last year that I'm combining from a couple of different posts here in the garden room. Birds, gardens, and butterflies all come together on the baker's rack and in the Holiday Cupboard for a late spring vibe.

A See's candy tin with a variety of backyard birdies.

The bird collages are from 2011 when I created them using old bird books, vintage book pages and vintage photo albums. Paper Bird Collages  and  Playing Paper Birds

One of my homemade "Garden Boxes"

My vintage Flower Girl figural lamp.

An antique advertising garden thermometer with butterflies.

You all know how much I love to style the Holiday Cupboard throughout the changing seasons. Last year I used vintage bird prints and accessories to put together a theme for late Spring, The Holiday Cupboard is for the Birds.

I'm using several different green transferware dish sets,

This is a Lefton China "Flycatcher".

I've mentioned before that my mom made this adorable,
garden-y cabbage "Majolica" covered veggie tureen back in the 80's.

You can check out my post from last year's Spring Cupboard:

And this post was from our lease house in 2014.

Now, run over to Amber's at Follow the Yellow Brick Home
and check out the two fabulous metal planters that she found last week.
She's sharing some gorgeous garden inspiration ideas with them.

I changed things up for a Summer/Patriotic look
in the Holiday Cupboard, so I'll be sharing that soon.

Thanks so much for coming by,
Hope you're having a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend.
I'm praying for our Country...

Hope you'll come back Monday evening...

  3. All of your birds are just so adorable. I love the vintage bird prints. I just pulled out a few for summer. A lot of people just decorate with birds in the spring, but I really use them a lot throughout summer and they never really fly away all year! The bird on the thistle is my favorite print you shared, and I love your decoupated birds. Everything looks so pretty for summer! I wouldn't want to change it for a while!

  5. I always love seeing how you have decorated your cupboard! I love birds, too and mainly have collected ceramic ones. Open concept house doesn't have enough walls for all of the pictures I want to hang! I love making wreathes with birds/nests/eggs, too!
