October on the Washstand

I've been having  a little problem keeping myself focused on accomplishing decor tasks lately. I've called it DADD before, but I don't want to be callous or offend anyone who genuinely deals with ADD. I'm dealing with (Decorating) ADD. I just have more space to play in than I've had before, and a lot of fun Fall stuff to use.

I looked back on last year's post when I brought out the Fall decor and florals for this little spot here in the Dining Room. I was totally shocked by my restraint!! To be honest I was finding it hard to get my act together and find things last year, since we were still getting settled and out of boxes.

I guess I'm still in that mode. Fall can be overwhelming for me
because I love it so much and can't make up my mind about what to use, where.

This year instead of the ironstone tureen and silver tray with a lone pumpkin,
I'm using my Lamb tureen and mossy wreath that have been here since Spring.
...Just added a few preserved leaves in warm Autumn color.

My little girl is still here.

This tiny corner is in a tight spot in the Dining Room.
It's not visible unless you walk from the kitchen to the Dining Room.
So we're really the only ones who see it.
But it always brings me a smile.

My mom and dad collected antiques and it set in our entry area for many years.
I had it for about 15 years before I antiqued it in chalk paint a while ago.

This old mirror is really rickety
and kind of reminds me of a funhouse mirror with a wavy reflection
and a lot of de-silvering on the back.
But it has a lot of charm.

We always think of lambs and Spring,
but this year I'm using them for Fall.
I gave this little guy a comfy fall nest.

More Fall color coming to the Dining Room.
The new mums on the front porch have been divebombed
by squirrels burying nuts,
and are now needing some attention/and or repotting.
(I haven't even taken porch photos yet!)
And my Garden Room looks like the budget warehouse at Hobby Lobby.
stay focused...stay focused...

  1. I love it Debra and I use small lamn in the spring and Christmas but why not any time? They're animals so they work.

I love what you did with your pretty lady. You gave me an idea for mine down the road.

    Always inspired.

  2. I think a lamb is always welcome no matter what season it is. Yours is so cute. Love your fall vignette. I think you are feeling like so many of us trying to get going with the fall and not be all over the place with it. I started mine and got the outside done and now am working on the inside. Just taking me forever too. Have a great day. xoxo

  3. I am not a winter person, but always love fall and as you said, I get enthused about decorating and have to restrain myself. 😊 I love your little girl just and the lamb. Recently we have had a Fox to appear sometimes so I have put a couple out this year. Thanks for the post!

  4. So pretty as usual. Thank you for sharing.

  5. The squirrels are busy here too snagging all our pecans... Stingy guys! Hope you can grab a few pics before they decimate your mums!!! 🐿

    Enjoy your weekend,
    Barb 🥰

  6. You are too funny, Debra! I feel the same way about fall decorating -- love it, but tend to be a bit scattered about it. Seems like I just get it right then it's Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas! I love your lamb and that beautiful mirror. How wonderful the washstand was in your family:) Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm! Pinned! xo Kathleen

  7. I'm so glad you are having fun. I'm not decorating our house, but, I'm in the doll room decorating Vickie's Vintage, the hotel and today hopefully the Garden Center. But, the sun is shining even with cold temps, still. Thanks for sharing all your pretty vignettes and continue to have some fun!!!

  8. You always know just the right way to layer things no matter what the season, Debra! I love all the cheerful colors you've used this year and how you incorporated all your antique and vintage finds too. It's all so beautiful! Hugs, CoCo

  9. What an excellent post - great for the eyes, and funny for the soul. You made me laugh out loud a few times. It is always a pleasure to pop by for a visit. Stay well. Hugs.

  10. So pretty and your humor strikes me! Our mums have been molested by little kittens using them as a litter box! I too have not even photographed the porch! Oh well! Next Year! Thank you for sharing with us at Embracing Home and Family!

  11. That mirror is just the kind I love!
Is your bust girl "wearing" something new for fall? I love it!
