Midsummer Farmtable

Hi Friends, do your floral arrangements reflect the seasons and holidays?
To me, keeping faux flowers seasonal makes them seem a little more realistic.

July and mid-summer calls for a few sunflowers and black-eyed susans to be added to the mix of summer blooms. So the big ice cream bucket on the farmtable found some of their happy little faces joining the geraniums and hydrangeas.

Summer means bringing out the indigo ticking runner for the farmtable in the Garden Room. Ticking pillows are a staple for me and I use them all throughout the year, but the runner is my summer go-to for this table. Actually it's not a real sewn/finished runner, just a few yards of fabric folded in the middle with a naturally frayed edge.

I have one of my vintage iron doorstops here too.
I found it white, so I'm not sure of it's original color.

I love keeping this big 'ol bucket here since I can pile
in the stems and mix the flowers to my hearts' content.

This was my late Spring version of the bucket filled with white tulips,
which stuck around until June.

I bought this "painted on glass" window hanging many years ago. It hung in my kitchen sink window for 11 years. When we moved to our last house I didn't have a window to hang it in, so it was packed away in storage. But I found it in a box last week and brought it upstairs to try to locate a spot that would work.

It seems some days I need a daily reminder to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit.

When the light shines through it's so pretty and inspiring.
Perfect for a summer/harvest feel.

Hope you all are having a great week.
What are you all up to?
We're in the low 90's now and I'm watering flowers and shrubs every day!

Hope you'll join us Monday Evening!

  2. Hi Debra, I think we all need that daily reminder! Very nice. I have a similar doorstop that had the original paint. My sweet husband painted it for my birthday, making it colors I like better than the original orange nasturtiums. I thought he was very sweet--but it probably destroyed any resale value. Ah, well. I don't sell my treasures anyway. I love the green watering can with the bird, too--very pretty! Did you make it? I'll look forward to Saturday's post--sounds fun!

  5. Hi Debra,

Old ice cream buckets or machines are great to use for flowers. This arrangement is stunning. I enjoy ticking as well and it's fun to mix and match with other fabrics.

  8. Sometimes there is one piece of something that is so versatile it works everywhere. Seems that bucket is it! I'm going to try to find something like it myself.

  12. Happy heat of summer, Debra! I love your bucket of sunflowers and little white hydrangeas. I need to go through my faux flowers and fill some planters and spread them around the house. I get really boring this time of year with decorating (it's the time before school begins and for some reason creativity wanes...) but I am working on a Victorian cabinet we brought home from Charles' parents' home.

Enjoy your pretty bouquet and the bucket is cute!!
