Cozy Wicker Seating with Patriotic Color

As you all know, I like to keep things changed up in the Garden Room, and especially in the little wicker seating area next to the Holiday Cupboard and the baker's rack. During June and July it's filled with red, white, and blue accents and decor. I have several vintage quilts and coverlets that get to set the stage with mix and match pillows.

This year I'm using a really old red and blue block quilt that is a bit faded but gives the look of chambray fabrics. It's a little fragile but still looks pretty and festive for summer. It has enough blue in it to give it a patriotic feel, especially when I'm using the star and indigo ticking pillows. I found the star pillows on Amazon and I made the ticking ones many years ago.

I brought in the old step ladder from the back porch last fall and I've realized its a perfect spot in front of the cupboard to style a little something for whatever the season or holiday it might be. This season it has an old blue metal lunch bucket and a vintage church-type birdhouse.

I've mentioned before that my daddy made me the bench that I use as a coffee table many years ago. It's not too big, but just the right size for the wicker pieces. The wooden scalloped tray seems to stick around here most of the time. As usual I'm using some old garden items collected on the tray. Vintage berry baskets, some peat pots, old garden tools and a vintage seed catalog, are there for enjoying a pot of tea.

My Restoration Hardware watering can is one of my favorite garden pieces. My daughter bought it for my birthday about 15 years ago, and it always has some kind of fun going on. The sweet little Guide to Garden Flowers book is from 1945. Here, we're looking at Zinnias and Painted Tongue.
(sorry, hadn't heard of that flower before, but aren't they gorgeous)

I'm using a red toile quilted coverlet and an elegant vintage blue petit point pillow on the wicker chair. As I've mentioned before, I tend to use "color" as a base for my seasonal holiday decor. Red, white, and blue items give a patriotic feel without really being patriotic pieces.

My little ticking pieced heart and a mini flag
decorate the outside of the Holiday Cupboard.

If you missed my

Hope you'll come back Monday evening for the link party...
