A Vintage Tote and Views of the Fall Kitchen

I think I've only shared my kitchen twice before... ok maybe just once, here at the "new" house. I love this kitchen, but it's usually in the process of being busy, and I tend to be a little messy and disorganized in here. But I wanted to share a fall look for my vintage tote here on the island, so I thought I'd just go crazy and take pics of the rest of the kitchen.

I found the oh-so-cute plaid napkins at Hobby Lobby earlier this Fall,
and then added a few ears of harvest corn and a cute fabric pumpkin.

We really use this island as our main prep and work space in here. Not to mention we eat here at the bar  at least twice a day, so it's always in use. I try to oil the butcher block wood top here every few months, but I'm behind doing that and you can see where we tend to work and then scrub down each day.

In my other post where I introduced the kitchen, I explained about the two microwaves and toaster oven. I don't like the microwave above the stove so my husband uses that one while I use the countertop one. Also he was set on getting a toaster oven and even though I didn't want the extra clutter, but we use it multiple times a day.

Seeing the paint in the kitchen and then into the mudroom, they look very different. But really it's the same paint color. It was custom mixed at Benjamin Moore, but it's very close to Edgecomb Gray; a nice warm greige.

It took me awhile to find the right rug, but I found this runner on Overstock.
Actually I bought two; one for here in front of the sink and one for the mudroom.

I was a little disappointed at first that I didn't get a farmhouse sink,
but actually this is a granite colored large very deep divided sink and I love it.

The planked ceiling in the kitchen and hearth room really gives
these spaces so much personality.

Even though I have a cheapo coffeemaker I take my coffee very seriously. So in the morning this counter is cluttered with all my goodies. I've had to go to decaf, but I still love a big pumpkin latte (all year round) and have come up with a combination of yummy products to put one together.

Have you ever tried this?
Gluten Free and Dairy Free Creamer.

I made this ceramic pumpkin cookie jar back in 1987, when ceramics were a big rage. I used to use it every year when the girls were young, but it had been packed away for a few years. I found it again when we moved and I had the space this year, so here it is in all it's ORANGE glory.

This is the view from the other direction; from the kitchen into the Hearth Room.

I need to do this more often!

You all doing OK?
We're having 2 days of warm weather, then it's back to normal fall cool/rainy weather.
We've been in a mini-drought and our yard has been so dry and parched.
It's been raining for the last several days, so I'm hoping the grass will perk up
before we get a hard freeze.

  2. What a very pretty Kitchen Debra. So very nice. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. thankyou Cindy, wow, why are kitchens so intimidating in blogland?

  3. I said before we basically have the same kitchen...and yikes, we use the toaster oven for so much, and our microwave. Giving up counter space for the toaster, is worth every second of time and energy saved. Cozy, practical, efficient, and gorgeous..who would want a different kitchen. Sandi

    1. oh I know, I wasn't happy that my husband bought the toaster oven without asking me, but I can't complain now, haha I use it too much. Thanks so much Sandi, I think this has been my fave kitchen ever!

  4. Debra I forgot how cute and pretty your kitchen is. Love that tote. Super cute. Happy Wednesday. xoxo Kris

    1. thanks Kris, hope you're doing well. take care of yourself, xoxo

  5. This looks like a very workable kitchen, plenty of space, nice storage.....I could cook and bake in here with no problems !!! I have that same pumpkin cookie jar, also made in ceramic class...have to dig it out.....hope you are well and happy....xoxoxo

  6. Hi Debra, I love your kitchen. It looks to be a good size with lots of storage. I made a ceramic pumpkin cookie jar too, but the lid got broken a few years ago. Now I just use it for flowers this time of year, but haven't even brought it out yet..Stay well xxoJudy

  7. Debra, what a GREAT working kitchen and views of your open spaces! I really like your home. We used to have two microwaves and a toaster oven, just like you, and used them all! I love your little caddy and that shelf with the print above, everything below. Really nice!

  8. I love your tote and your cute chipmunk!! What a great kitchen space. Thanks for sharing! I'm visiting from the Embracing Home and Family link up today. Have a great weekend Debra!

  12. Your kitchen is lovely! So much cabinetry and a beautiful ceiling...such a great space. I totally understand about the toaster oven and microwaves. We want our homes to look good but they have to be functional, too. Enjoyed your post!

  13. I love your kitchen. It seems to have so many wonderful places to decorate for all of the seasons. And I think your sink is a better solution. I have clients that have farmhouse sinks and many have mentioned that the husbands jean buttons have scratched the surface on the apron. That would be frustrating to me. Enjoy your beautiful fall kitchen with your fabulous vintage tote!

  14. Debra, I absolutely love your little tote and all your Fall adds to it & your kitchen. Thank you so much for sharing it with us at the TFT party. I am featuring you this week! Happy almost November, Debra!

  15. Your kitchen looks so cozy for fall Debra! Love your ceilings and butcher block island. Thank you for stopping by the Home Imagined Link party today. Have a great weekend.

  16. Beautiful kitchen, Debra!! I love all the touches of fall. Your coffee station is fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing at Home Imagined this week!
